Personally I don’t think so. Relievers presumably aren’t going to be playing tomorrow with their ace starting. May as well.

The inability to put Santander away and the elevated pitch count contributed to the early pull of Gil. Boone lost confidence in his starter after that at bat. It's a productive at bat in the grand scheme of the game and the series.
