I hope one team claims both Colin White and Colton White.

Dumb question, but why do waiver lists tend to have only a handful of teams on them each time, each usually with multiple players? Are there any rules or is it just different timing choices for different teams?

Ryan Graves the obvious big name. What a terrible contract.

I think just different timing for different teams.

If you compared the lists to the teams' preseason schedules and their AHL affiliates training camps, they'd probably make more sense. If a player isn't going to be playing in any more preseason games, might as well send him down and reduce the number of players you need to make room for in training camp.

There's also some gamesmanship involved. You put a lot of players on waivers the same day a bunch of other players are on waivers because you want your guys to be ignored and slip through.

The "best" waiver days are usually the last couple...I think that is why the Flames tried to sneak Solo through before Miro. It almost worked

No rules. Each team cuts players on their own timeline. It just makes sense to cut a whole group of players, instead of sending them 1 at a time.

There's also an element of trying to sneak players through waivers, some teams think earlier is better, while others prefer to wait until the last moment when 50-100 players get sent down at once.

Wonder if Caps claim Alexeyev. I believe the pens stole him from them on waivers last year

Edit: nvm caps didn’t qualify him

Kolyachonok is interesting to me for the Flames. Kind of replaces Solo. Same kind of quality me thinks.

Dennis Gilbert would be okay as a seventh guy.

It's a win win that Solovyov got claimed, because now he gets a real chance, and the Wranglers aren't healthy scratching somebody who should play such as Morin. The Flames do not need to go out and claim somebody to be the #9 on the depth chart.

I wonder if Jack Thompson will go on waivers for SJ in the upcoming days. He would be an interesting pickup. He's a good skater, right shot, with a good release, and a good first pass, and he's stuck as the 7th/8th D on the Sharks, while they have bigger names coming up.

Bjornfot cut by the Panthers. He's worth a look. Definitely an upgrade on Bean and Miromanov.

Angus Crookshank sounds like an upset fisherman you'd meet in a rural Scottish pub who doesnt have all 10 fingers.

He hasn't been able to gain traction. He's been waived multiple times and his offense is non-existent - yes, he's a blueliner, but he's obviously not contributing enough.
