My point was that Sharangovich isn't the guy to come out of the lineup, when you have Klapka, Pospisil and Kirkland in the lineup.

for what it's worth, this was his reasoning:
https://twitter.com/user/status/1974345446824030674
but I primarily posted the tweet for the "keep Gridin, waive Miromanov" part, not the Sharky part.

Rewatching his goals and plays he's a natural at this level. Clearly doesn't overthink it and trusts his instincts which allows him to make plays at nhl pace, as well as having the right place/right time awareness to make those plays.
Most kids don't have what Gridin has to be able to play at this level so young. But every now and then you get that exception.

Kirkland too valuable for shootouts and also a natural centre for 4th line.
I suspect Pospisil, Sharky and Klapka will end up being the 3 players that will rotate to sit. Which will drive an internal competition that frankly all 3 players need. But also ok if Lombo also sits some games.
Klapka has impressed the most amongst that group and seems to have real chemistry with Kadri.

Well for one thing, Sharky is a better player than either Lomberg or Kirkland. Lomberg brings a lot of leadership, but his on-ice skills are marginal. And Kirkland is a one-hit wonder. If it wasn't for the shootout, he wouldn't be good enough for the everyday roster, at age 29 he's an older tweener with a career total of 30 NHL games.

Sharangovich was a healthy scratch often when he played for the Devils as well. I don't really know that we are missing much with him in the press box and agree with Haynes.

Missing his 47 goals the last 2 seasons

Gridin has been solid but it's early in his career and a numbers game. Ok to be in AHL. Rip it up. And will be back and forth due to injuries in the PRO
Expectation is this time next year additional older guys are moved and a permanent top 9 spot is there for him.
I imagine in a year. - Backlund could be the 4th line center as well.

I know he can be sent down without issue and play big minutes in the AHL.
But I think you have to reward the kid for doing everything asked of him and then some by keeping him on the opening night roster.
You have to show guys that putting in the work does pay off, it’s a huge opportunity for the staff to show all the young guys what’s possible.
I know he’s waiver exempt and would be the easy out at this point, but I see no reason to not give him what he’s rightfully earned.
You can always send him down before 10 games if he starts to struggle at the start.
This is a fantastic story, even better than Honzek making it last year.

I mean if you know exactly which games he'll score in that's great but few players are above being in the press box, including Yegor. I'm not even advocating for him to sit but the way some of you think a guy can't be a healthy scratch is wild.

I never said he can't ever sit...why would one of your top natural goal scorers sit to start the season? Because of preseason?
If Kerins, Kirkland, Lomberg, ect. scored 47 the last two years they would get the benefit of the doubt too...those three have a combined 10 goals over the last 3 years

Because he's wildly inconsistent, was mostly off last year with almost a quarter of his goals coming in three games in April. Putting natural in front of goal scorer is just a flowery word.

I mean if he scored all the time he would be a top end player making 12M...nobody is saying that. How many guys on this roster have scored 30 lately? or even 17 in a bad year. Let alone the players who would be potentitally taking his spot who dont have 30 goals in their entire careers and likely wont get there.
Pretty sure those April goals were kinda important, not to mention recent. Just makes no sense to take him out now, he is a guy that can actually do the thing the team has the most trouble with.

Sharky was wildly inconsistent last season. But he brought his game when it was needed down the stretch. And when he's scoring like that, he's an asset to have. That's the guy who is tenacious around the net with a quick release.
I hope he finds that "level" much earlier this year.

Wasn't it revealed after the end of the season that Sharky had some ongoing issues from his injury throughout the year? Or am I misremembering that? If so that'd be a big contributor to his inconsistency.

His contract doesn't slide if he plays in the AHL, or is there another impact of the nine-game rule I'm unaware of?

Because of his age when he signed his contract, it will slide if he doesn't play 10 NHL games this season, even if he's playing pro hockey in the AHL.

They kept Honzek up last year so I reckon they will do the same with Gridin this year until he falters.

You keep Klapka and Gridin playing important minutes until they cool off.
If they do not do this then everything CC and Huska have said about earning it, and dressing the players that give the Flames the best chance to win, is a lie.
If Klapka and Gridin keep playing like this then who cares about Marty and Yegor? They can be traded, they have value.
And I'd lump Farabee in there with Marty and Yegor too, but he seems to be the Flames' heir apparent to Coleman's spot. And if anyone can fix Farabee, it will be Backs.

Yegor is an unreliable flake, like countless others we have had over the years, that most people will forget as soon as he moves on.
Fans always cheer for the under dog, but a motley assortment of under dogs doesn't ever win anything. That only happens in bad movies.
