All 3 wildcard games being in the same city is so mickey mouse. How hard would it be for one game to be in Boston

The whole playoff structure is stupid in MLB. To me having the divisional series as a best of 5 is even more egregious. But its all dumb.

You have two divisional winners that play a mickey mouse best of three, you have four playoff teams that don't get a single home game, you have thousands of fans that passionately follow their team all year only to get stuck with their playoff series during the work day on short notice, to the point where a stadium is 2/3's full, and the best finishing teams in the league could be be out of the playoffs in 3 games in a silly best of 5.

Just goofy stuff all around.

Should be noted the Cubs are the first home team to win a game 3 in this round. Homefield matters the least in baseball of major sports.

Is there a consensus for jays fans on who to cheer for here or is that bad karma? Bosox seem weaker as far as the standings and the hitters so I've been leaning that way? Plus in the battle of most obnoxious fanbases those are two right at the top of pro sports but the yankees edge it for me entitlement wise

Not sure you can definitively say it's showboating versus him just being slow as ####.

Boston didn't show any urgency getting it back in either. They could have had a good shot a throwing him out since the guy is slower than Kirk.

He showboated a little yelling at the dugout and then realized it wasn't out.

I find it all beyond frustrating. Every year I shake my head at this.

They play the longest most drawn out regular season and then absolutely rush the playoffs. Where the games are the most fun to watch and there is actual intensity. The sport is literally better in the playoffs. Do they not like revenue? Do they not like attention?

The sport is set up for natural theatre and drama. Almost every sports fan I know who aren’t really baseball fans in the regular season tune in for playoffs.

The format, the length, the broadcast times are all entirely braindead

I'd kinda agree, but to be picky, I'd say Judge is a very likeable player. The Yanks throughout the years have had very little players who are likeable. I hated Jeter too - he was quiet-cocky. Maybe Riviera? Anyway, Judge isn't cocky or anything. He's just a solid player and if anything, should be more pompous but he isn't.

How long is too long for teams on bye to be off? Is a week too long?

Funny how this inning started on a defensive blunder. Both these teams are so terrible in the field.

Yeah, I guess that would be a major point in favour of how they do it now.

I still think the teams with the bye would be happy, but can see that being a tough one to work around.

I think they can at least move to 7 games for the DS series, there’s no reason those need to be 5 game series.

I’d also be in favour of a 16 team format like the NHL, with every series being a best of 7

Sox seem to be imploding here. Frankly the Jays chances should be better against the Yanks compared to the Sox based on the Sox pitching.

Both teams' fanbases suck but the Sox fans are trash.

no Yankees pitcher scares me the way Crochet does.

Yeah, Fried is great but the Jays got to him 3 times this year. His only successful shutdown of our bats was back on April 27th
