I don't like the way we structured our rosters so that vets were only playing essentially the first night and last night. Vets looked waaay behind it last night.
Vets didn't have to compete with younger players and earn anything. Vets sat and waited for cuts, then got trudged out for one of the most uninspiring efforts I've ever seen in a preseason game. Vets were given nothing to lose and apparently had nothing to prove either. Doesn't feel like there was any internal competition there.
Damn good chance Kerins gets claimed.
We've got too many players. Gridin is ready. If there weren't so many middle/bottom 6 forwards on this roster it would have been a no brainer to keep him up.
Edit: I'm just going to go ahead and say it, Zayne doesn't look ready to me. I know he's too good for the OHL, but I'm not convinced he's ready for the NHL yet either.

A farce? Yet, in the very same post, you list two players that have seemingly made the team?

Also not keen on Solo getting snapped up either.
Team clogged up its blueline with nhl tweeners though so the numbers game was their own doing.

He hasn’t looked like a top six guy whenever I watched him. If the Flames are lacking top six guys then it should be even easier to break in.

I dont remember saying that. I just said I think Kerins gets claimed, I wasn't complaining about him getting sent down. Did you read my post?

Kirkland is also preferable from the perspective that he is going to watch more games than he plays in.

With all due respect have you been following the waiver wire? Kerins and Solos have been available daily. These guys are NHL tweeners themselves.

Its true. He's really the perfect 13th forward if ever there was an ideal player to sit most nights.

Every year the management proves they have better talent evaluators than any message board fan.
And yet, every year people just think they know better.
Conroy has proven time and time again, they don't let assets go for no reason.
I didn't see ANYTHING that made me think Kerins or any of the other were NHLers or much more than a Kirkland at their peak.

I dont have a problem with Kerins going down as it seems as more NHLers got into the lineups the last 2 games the more he struggled.
One of the goalies had to go down and I don't think either are at risk of being claimed so whatever on that front. I think many are right in thinking it might be better for Prosvetov to go down and get more playing time to start the year and build up his confidence.
The keeping Miromanov aspect is what is throwing me off though.
Makes no sense unless he is injured.

How do these contracts work going forward regarding waivers? I'm always out of the loop on these things. So once the season starts would a guy like Kerins be on a 2 way contract and not require waivers?
Assuming he doesn't get claimed this somewhat makes sense. Like many have already stated many times you don't really want Kerins on your 4th line, and if Huby is injured to start the season I'd rather reward Gridin with that spot for a few games. I'm sure Kerins will get some games throughout the season.

I dont know those tweeners though. These are our tweeners, so they're special.

Matthew Phillips for example
is Valimaki still in the NHL?

I read it. Your argument was that the “precedent” that younger players stealing jobs was a farce.
Your evidence of that seemed to be that:
- Kerins stands a good chance of getting claimed
- Gridin is still on the squad
- Parekh is not NHL ready
Maybe you can educate the obtuse masses and explain what your point was or what you actually remember saying since it’s apparently gone so far over our heads.

I can't figure out how to embed tweets for the life of me. But Steinberg posted that Huby is day to day and Cooley was chosen due to a bit more familiarity with him.

Gridin and Parekh are 19-year-olds who look to have made the team at the expense of vets. I don't understand your response.
