Kerins with a couple tough games in a row, he wasn't alone but he is the guy fighting for his life here

Will be curious to see what Conroy does about goaltending. I wonder if Conroy is going to wait to see how this season starts to see what direction he should lean into this year. He could go offer Samsonov an overpay and have a reliable backup goalie who can even act as a 1B for periods of time. Or he could pick up someone off waivers that looks better than the 2 goalies he’s had in camp as backups. Or he could just roll the dice to see if one of the goalies he has can settle into the backup role during the season. He could choose to play wolf a bunch to start the year to give him the opportunity to see if the rest of the team is ready to compete for a playoff spot this year. If they struggle even with Wolf in net, then there’s no point in trying to get a better backup. If they do well, he can address the backup goalie need through trade or potentially through a waiver pickup I guess.

Wolf plays 82. Skaters can do it.

Could see him sent to the wranglers. Gridin maybe as well but mostly as a numbers game. He has looked better than pretty much every winger on the team so far in training camp - veterans and rookies included.

Rather have this happen in preseason than Game 1.

I just watched the game. I sold my tickets for this game last miinute and if a Flames fan bought them I feel shame and wish I could give them their money back.

Yeah Kerins was a guy who probably couldn’t afford a bad game. He probably still gets another game though.
Goalies with NHL experience will be available on waiver wire but don’t imagine Flames are pulling the plug on these two yet.

He can’t. He has played the most games allowed in the preseason.

Was at the game. Wish I wasn’t. Embarrassing effort. Neither goalie looked good but the team in front of them were garbage. Breakaways, odd man rushes, giveaways… team flat out stunk. Not sure you can take anything away from that game.
If they come out like that again Friday in the final tune up, something is amiss.

I'm surprised at this comment because I thought he was the 3rd best forward tonight, after Frost and Gridin. Not that it means much with how bad the rest of them were.
I thought the entire defense corps was brutal too. But it is preseason.
Either way, you have to make room for Gridin and Kerens. We have so many useless replaceable vets on the team who you wouldn't notice if they were traded. Play the young guys, I'm already tired of watching some of the vets and it is preseason.

With all due respect are you sure you just arent a little biased here? You have been saying for a week or two now that he has to be on the team. He looked really slow the last couple games. Gridin was better in both games, Kirkland was better last game. Like what did Kerins do that was so good to make him the 3rd best forward?
Kerins was a -3, the worst of any forward along with zero hits

No kidding. Nothing that waiving tonight's entire roster wouldn't fix.

But yeah he totally approched you to tell you he wanted a 3 year deal. (Which I wouldnt want the Flames to give him anyway) Vladar was also playing like ass the first half of last season, he probably would have taken any NHL deal.

Some of you guys take what is said in front of a camera way too seriously. It’s cliche central, and they will always paint everything in the best possible way.

But we are supposed to take "trust me bro" he told me personally while drunk at a christmas party in December seriously?
When his goalie coach says in pretty casual radio interview that Vladar told him that he wanted to be a starter and knew that wouldn't happen here I would say that is a far more reliable source.

Don’t see how you could sent Gridin down. The rest of the bubble guys easily could go down.

I was there too. Looked really bad. I agree something looked off. Not sure if the coaches were trying to implement a bunch of new systems.
PP and defensive coverage looked extremely poor.

The pp set up with one D high and the other guy low in the zone is a breakaway machine. Every time the puck was turned over the canucks would send a foraward up the boards for a hail mary pass/breakaway. Must have happened three times. Other teams will do the same thing.
