For nearly half that time it was impossible for teams in the same division to meet in the playoffs. There was no wild card until 1994 and then for some time after that there was only 1 wild card and the wild card never played the winner of its same division in the DA by rule, so they could only have met in the CS.

Exactly. And then when the Jays were dominant for a decade, 85-95, the Sox and Yanks were doormats. But then the changing of power(spending) shifted and it was a different story. And when the Jays got back to relevance, the playoff format shifted. Just a weird timeline in a weird sport.

Going to my first live Jays game in 20 years on Saturday. Games Saturday, Sunday and the Hockey Hall of Fame on Monday. Should be one hell of a boys trip. Needless to say I haven’t been this excited for a trip in a long time. Go jays go!!!

What's crazy is this year, 6 of the 7 original AL East teams are in the playoffs.

Toronto, Yankees, Boston, Detroit, Cleveland and Milwaukee.

Dan and Buck doing all the games as long as the Jays are in it?
That’s awesome. Never have had that before, always get the US playoff takeover. Obviously Rogers is paying for this right, now.

Makes sense that the US networks don’t really care, because Canadian TV ratings don’t mean anything for the US networks (advertisers). And obviously the games are all subbed on Snet anyways, no US network is a standalone (maybe TBS but they don’t have ball anymore) so there is no splitting or ratings.

I don't think the US networks would care about Sportsnet doing it's own broadcast - even if they did show up in Canada they'd have to sim-sub the commercials like the super bowl so there's no economic reason for them to care.

I think the biggest thing is probably Rogers has to pay the cast/crew/travel/production costs when they could just use the US network feed for way less.

Basically its a weird situation here where Sportsnet is both the Jays local broadcaster in their local region of Canada, and also the MLB national broadcaster for the country of Canada.

Crochet on regular rest would be ready to go for game 2 (Sunday). Also puts him on track to take the hill on regular rest in game 5 (following Friday).

Yikes! I hope they've found a way to face a virtual Crochet somehow to get ready.

Wild to me that the Yanks or Red Sox are not getting a primetime tv slot.

I got a text about tickets available through outfield district for the upcoming games. So I chose next Friday (if it happens). I also originally thought they were getting the wildcard so chose yesterday's game that didn't happen. Should be fun.

Crochet looks like a cheat code for the Sox. I think we should be hoping for the Yanks to win these next 2 games because if not, good luck winning a best of 5 with that guy pitching twice!

I definitely like our chances against the Yankees better than I do the Sox.

But I also hate the Yankees the most, so its a double edged sword.

Still, prefer the matchup with NY so hoping they pull out the next 2.

The Yankees defense just reared its ugly head! Bases loaded, nobody out from a poor throw. Would love to see these teams pound each other for a game or two.

I only want Boston to win more because Yankees fans are as annoying as Oilers fans and it would be funny to hear the whining.

I want it to go to game 3 though with tomorrow being multiple extra innings so I would be ok with them winning today.

I'm also trying to plan my weekend a bit, and game 2 on Sunday is confirmed for 4:08EST if that helps you at all.
