This sounds awful.

Elections Calgary said it is opening additional polling stations across the city for a total of 42 during advance voting between Oct. 6-11. There will be 261 stations on election night, a 40 per cent increase over the 2021 election.

Look, if the cost of nodding at election fraud conspiracy theorists is a costlier election with less reliable/timely reporting, that's a price Danielle Smith is willing to pay.

As a side benefit, if the results aren't to her liking, the delays will allow her to start casting doubts on the results too. So it's win-win-win.... as long as you are Danielle Smith.

To be fair some of the increase is due to growth of the city. But that doesn't' change the fact that this was a moronic move by the Province that serves zero purpose other than to add to the cost of the elections. Which is born by the municipalities. Which then gives the Province another 'reason' to take power away from them under the guise of not being able to manage their own finances responsibly.

Has anyone seen the hilariously small campaign signs for Terry Wong along Centre Street in Ward 7? They are the size of an envelope, impossible to read and are already blowing away. It's like someone asked if he'd rather have 1000 big signs or 10000 tiny signs and the answer was obviously more.

How does a presumably educated person feel that more polling stations (brought on by a change in law from the Alberta gov) is a bad thing?

I think I will be voting for Barrett in Ward 7 and Gondek for mayor. Still researching Trustees

I was tempted to step on it this morning walking to the bus, but wasn't sure if that's illegal.

This is how I am leaning but will keep an eye to polls and whomever is in the lead and willing to adjust accordingly.

I'm voting for Myke Atkinson in ward 7, Gondek for mayor, Bolger for public trustee. Looks like we have another progressive split in our future. Hopefully Terry Wong doesn't manage to stumble up the middle to continue doing nothing for another 4 years.

I am also leaning heavily towards Myke instead of David here in 7.

I have no kids and live in ward 7, is there a public trustee I should not randomly select? Want to make sure I don't randomly vote for someone evil. Looks like Bolger is the incumbent so if people above have no issues, I am guessing she is doing something right.

I am leaning towards any candidate that wants to go back to the the tunnel green line idea.

I can't understand how Gondek is polling as well as she is (although maybe the polls themselves are flawed).

Do we still hate Kent Hehr? He came to the door and was nice, talked about his nephew who was drafted by Columbus.

I'm in ward 4 and I'll be voting for DJ Kelly for council, and Laura Hack for trustee. Still figuring out my mayor vote but it's probably between Gondek/Thiessen.

I didn't expect to ever have a lawn sign for a school trustee, but after reading some of the info out there on the alternative, here I am.

Because the alternatives are reborn Farkas and UCP surrogates Sharp and Davidson. Brad Theisson exists but people aren't interested in the Calgary Party and he hasn't done anything to differentiate himself.

I agree on the school trustee sign. I also did not think I would end up there but when you see the rise of the conservative "mom's for liberty" movement in this election, it is a big reminder that we need to stop them from taking over any level of administration.

As for Gondek/Thiessen, I am likely voting Gondek because I am already voting for The Calgary Party candidate for council as there are no other good options in my riding. Thus, voting Gondek as an independent makes me feel better about my ballot. I am also worried that Thiessen as a "centrist" may be more corporatist than progressive populist and I am tired of the city pandering to corporations and rich people at the expense of the rest of us.

Sprawl Calgary article: The push to ‘conservatize’ Calgary’s public school board. These are the people that you should absolutely avoid.

Patricia Bolger is good.
