Stauffer can foresee a 29, 27, and 25 year old on their opening day roster? Including a 24 and another 25 year old? Wow Bob, watch out for that youth!
And despite the claim of internal development and growth none of the seven players named in that tweet were drafted by Edmonton.

its turnover for sure
Philp is older than Pospisil or Frost
Regula is the same age as Bahl
Tomasek is the same age at Kirkland
so yeah not sure what to say really

Mavi Diary - Day 33
Dear Diary. We are almost done diary…so very nearly there…on preseason I mean.
Leon and I, we are like formal linemates now. Leon and I took over the stereo in the dressing room basically from ourselves and we’ve changed the song from my DJ clip to “Reunited”…and honestly it feels so good. We have barely been apart and even although we always play together on the same line as soon as Coach Knobby senses trouble, it’s nice to make it official. It’s like an engagement for hockey players. That reminds me to tell Leon that we can’t exchange promise rings because they won’t fit under our gloves.
I suppose it doesn’t really matter because both Leon and I keep our gloves on for the entire game. We agreed to keep them on even when we punch opponents because we normally don’t want to affect the team manicures that we get. “Manicures by Mike” is what Mr. Smith has to do to make the contract work. You don’t get to just “retire” from your contract.
I saw that Bob Stauffer was talking about new rookies this season so that the oilers could pay me and so that I would be convinced that this is a winning team. I met them and these rookies are older than me! It got me thinking about how I could get the rookie of the year award. I’ve never won that award and I think it’s wrong that I can’t win it at all now. It doesn’t bother me that much as I’m comfortable finishing second, except that the league conspired against me and I finished third!
I went mental and tearfully told Mr. Katz that he could keep his stupid roses if I couldn’t get the awards that I wanted. That’s when the oilers got me my own TV and radio network, Sportsnet. Now, whenever I want to see highlights of me and talking about how great I am (often), or watch other oilers highlights (rarely), I just tune in! They don’t even put other teams on there! One in awhile I do turn on my future network, TSN (the Toronto Sports Network) to see what Brad is doing in gathering up my future teammates.
On my contract, I play half the game so I should get half the money! Emperor Nerostan (he asked to be called that now) told me that he wanted to give me half the money, but the salary cap was going up so it wouldn’t be half in the future. That made sense. I asked if Nerostan could do me a little Kawhi magic contract, where I get shares in a fictional company and get paid not to show up.
Nerostan said that he might be able to get me shares in Mr. Katz’s movie company, and maybe even some roles for me and Leon’s wife! She’s an actress so that makes sense. I’m sensitive to letting my personality overwhelm commercials and movies so I might just take the money.
Nerostan told me that he might be able to do some load management, but I told him that I already only play on half of the rink, and I take time off whenever I like, so maybe not. I’m going to write that down though so Brad can get that into the next contract.
I talked to Kirill on his new contract; man it’s a doozy. He only gets paid a million a season! He said that he gets the rest just for showing up like a signing bonus. I’m going to ask Brad about that because Austin told me that he has the same deal.
And I still don’t think that the oilers are better.
We will see what happens tomorrow Diary.
