Ah, I thought it was said at the military gathering this morning.

It’s the same schtick as the last time he mentioned the “golden dome”, and I’m pretty sure it was the exact same wording: “Canada called me up and wants to be a part of it…”. Sure, bud.

It’s all just stupid nonsense, and I wouldn’t give it any more oxygen.

Now he’s going on about his plan for reduced drug prices , TrumpRX. Mathematically qualified with 1000% savings!

I would hope there’s a good chunk of generals just shaking their heads at this, but I can imagine being also entirely afraid to even voice it with a peer. This is a bend the knee moment and they will absolutely gut anyone who balks at this even a little bit. You wouldn’t even know who it would be safe to talk to in case they turn you in.

I'm not watching. What were the reactions? Polite applause? Uproarious laughter? Pensive muttering?

It's military brass. Polite applause when typically required and that's it, it's not a MAGA rally for them.

I told you his plan would be to sow civil unrest so that he can cancel midterms. Things are going to get really crazy down there. What a time to be alive.

Peter Zeihan had a (kinda, not totally) interesting comment on the US / Canada 51st State sabre rattling. Something about Zeihan’s arm wavy broad generalization approach bugs me but nonetheless he was saying that it’s just actually bad math for the USA to try and takeover Canada.

Canada has (apparently…) a big demographics problem and the cost of said problem with our aging population will be hugely expensive. The US gov would inherit that gigantic cost and so the cost of taking over Canada ain’t worth it.

Definitely had a bit of a tone of- but don’t kid yourselves Canada, if your resources were ever at threat of not being (essentially, via trade) beholden to the USA- the USA would immediately step in. I’m definitely sort of ad libbing / reading between the lines / providing my own thoughts though on this last paragraph.

Americans definitely view Canadian resources as essentially theirs.

Have financial realities ever stopped Trump from doing anything?

Most officers, especially those of a higher rank understand a "political environment"

They can play the game

I sure hope that the majority of the officers and generals in that room remember that they swore an oath to the constitution and not one man, wanna-be king, or tyrant.

Nope, if they did they would have their own meeting on how to remove the President because he is a threat to their own country.

Pretty sure walking into the Oval Office and unloading a clip into him is the only way they can remove him. They don't have any real power.

Well actually they do. They can appoint a leader themselves they will listen to instead of the current Maga regime and take power away from him. What is he going to do if the military will no longer follow his orders?
