These are the people pretending to care for your kids. They think you should be spanking your teenagers if they ask a question you don’t like. Disgusting.

Probably one of the most disgusting things I've seen.

Bring it on UCP shills. Tell me why a high school student is so threatening to the UCP leadership.

Anyone who voted for the UCP in the past 2 elections deserves to get syphilis, gonorrhea and herpes!

What a f***ing scumbag. That is absolutely shameful behaviour from a representative of the government. Dude should be fired immediately for that crap. I hope that clip goes viral.

The UCP are ####ing cowards. They can't handle one question from a high school kid but expect teachers to handle 30+ in a classroom.

My son's entire elementary school has classes over 30 with the exception of 2 split classes that are capped at 27 and the Kindergarten classes.
We also tried to switch schools because our zoning is stupid (2 schools within 5 minutes and my son gets a 1hr bus ride) but everything was closed for 4th grade.

There are no longer classroom caps in Alberta thanks to the UCP so this maximum you speak of is not possible. Your experience is like this because you're either private or charter, or are just in an older, boomer aged community without a feeder.

I'm not even surprised either. Which is sad, but this is entirely why the teachers strike is where it's at. These are the people behind the scenes, in the premiers ear (not to give her a pass at all), validating her and even encouraging her to act the way she acts and pursue the matters she's pursuing.
This is exactly why the UCP was voted out previously under Prentice - out of touch, borderline scary stuff going on behind the scenes between stifling free speech at a forum while disparaging children publicly and flaunting with enacting the notwithstanding clause.
Edit - Apparently McAllister rakes in $15k/month on the provinces dime as Smith's Executive Director, and this is what we as a province are getting for it. A pricey attack dog showing the governments true colours to all.

TBF, classroom size for size for your location is either zero or maybe one.

The fact that it has good schools is why people like me bankrupt themselves to try and live here.
But I do hear stories from guys I know in Edmonton where the schools are overfilled. Yet they keep expanding the neighborhood but don't add any new schools. The day the school opens it's at capacity...yet the new subdivision is only half done.

Yup, in Sherwood Park they've opened one public elementary school in the last 21 years and it was immediately over capacity (obviously). It's the closest school to my house but we're zoned across town. I've bitched about it before because it pisses me off. The government also hasn't built an arena since 2000...constantly wonder what my taxes go towards since its not education, infrastructure or healthcare.

The student who was disparaged last night has spoken out on reddit below. Very articulate and pointed reply that speaks extremely well about this situation and the state of education in Alberta.

Turkish tylenol, war room, research centre on US-Canada relations, the world's worst opinion polls and surveys, carpet for Smith's office.
