We’ll see how it goes I guess. Knowing this government, they’re going to go all out on Instagram ads to demonize us.
I voted “no” but I’m worried about my bank account. I don’t think demons do that.

IMO, who care what the public says. You are fighting the government. Keep the fight, until you get the salary.
Leave the classroom situation to the parents and their vote in the Alberta elections

As the husband of a teacher who has only been teaching for 8 years and is basically at her wit’s end, I’m relieved to see teachers standing strong and rejecting a clearly terrible offer and slap-in-the-face from the UCP.
Glad to see so many of you on the side of teachers with this, because working conditions for Alberta teachers have been gradually degrading for over two decades and the system is on the brink of collapse, which is exactly what the UCP wants because public education is the bane of their existence.
So thank you to those who support teachers. For those who either don’t or think the UCP has offered them ANYTHING close to fair, please go educate yourselves. Thank you.

We are unlimited but more than 3 consecutive or 1st day of surgery or hospitalization is STD regular sick days are untracked but since Covid most people are 50% productive when actually sick and encouraged to stay home when contaigiois.

I am also the husband of a teacher, the conditions are my problem as a parent and a voter. My opinion is teachers need to focus on them and parents on their children.
I could be out to lunch but that’s how I see it.
Marlena is gonna make me vote liberal for a first time in the province

That’s totally fair! I may be wrong but I just think that if the public isn’t on the teachers side, it gives the UCP more leverage. I think that’s why this totally fiscally responsible, not-Spenshi government spent all that money on Instagram ads.
Truth be told I’m usually a lurker on this forum, but I’ve been way more active just to give a teacher’s take for as many people as I could reach.

If insanity truly is doing the same thing twice and expecting a different result, the UCP just proved they are insane...and the teachers are not.
UCP will use this to make things worse to try and bring the teachers over to their side of sanity.

I’m not looking forward to the smear campaign that will come from the government, but I’m so glad teachers stood strong.

Today?
Only 4,479.
The UCP managed to find a way to actually make things worse.

Believe me, I thought it. And have been thinking it any time I come across anyone who supports the UCP’s side (the wrong side) on this. Which, thankfully, hasn’t been often as the general public support for teachers has been awesome to see.

Naheed Nenshi, Leader, Alberta’s New Democrats, responds to the news Imperial Oil is cutting jobs:###
“This announcement by Imperial Oil that it is cutting jobs and closing its Quarry Park offices is a significant blow to Calgary and Alberta’s economy. Hundreds of families will be affected with ripple effects throughout their communities.##
“We already have the second-highest unemployment rate in Canada, and Danielle Smith has no plan. Indeed, she is chasing away investment and making it harder for job creators in Alberta.##
“How will she ensure that good quality jobs stay in the province? Making threats and being angry has clearly failed. We need a premier who keeps Alberta’s investment market competitive, instead of chasing separatism. Our province and every worker losing their job deserve so much better.”##
I am quite looking forward to Nenshi in question period once the leg eventually sits again.

Pretty high turnout with 42592 out of what gets rounded to 51000 members casting ballots.
I guess living in that Alberta Next echo chamber for the past 4 months just made them more deaf than they were before May.

Crazy hearing about these big 30+ class sizes in Alberta.
My daughter’s school has a maximum class of 25 students and her current grade 3 class has 22.
