It would be a surprise. I mean they have 1.5 yrs of data to look at since

Thing is the data hasn't been uniformly bad, Miro has had his moments, it just hasn't been great overall. He's 28 now though so there probably isn't much else there but then again CGY did give up picks for Oscar Fantenberg and Ryan Carpenter way back when.

Brad Treliving did and he loved shipping out picks for easily attainable depth. Best not to set expectations based on other bad trades.

I'd be super happy if that happened. As it is, we have veterans like Bean who are pretty close to replacement level, and Hanley who is 34, and likely a #6 on a good team at best. That's already blocking spots for guys like Kuznetsov and Solovyov who might be just as good as them if not better. Never mind letting someone like Brzu getting a chance to play.

We already have a log jam of d-men knocking on the door of the NHL, but guys like Miromanov are still in the organization. He is what he is, an emergency d-man call up who looks okay at times, but is still pretty bad. It was worth a shot, but now it's over, and we have better players that need his spot in the organization.

I'm already worried that he goes to the AHL and takes minutes away from guys down there. They need the playing time over Miro.

I hope he's claimed. It'd be ideal for him and for the organization.

Maybe "The Professor" got it wrong and he shouldn't have converted to D at 16? Try him as a Forward? Lol. Thought this was an interesting article:

Hell we could be off base with this thread, maybe Huska and Conroy still like him and want him for nhl depth.
He probably wouldn’t unless it was clear the NHL dream is dead and if he can work out a decent deal to return to the KHL.

That's not it. Miromanov has been successful at every level of hockey except the NHL. Based on his time in Calgary, it appears that he doesn't process the game fast enough to be a full-time NHLer at any position, which is usually what happens to players with the proverbial "good tools, but no tool box"

He will get waived and go to the Wranglers. A lot of AHL teams carry as many as 10D.

Thing is at times, the Wranglers can play a lot of games in a week, they stack up. They will rotate players in and out to a certain extent. Then 1-2 injuries and 1-2 call ups and you can quickly need the bodies.

In the last couple of years, CC was still looking for an AHL body or two around training camp.

We also have spots in the ECHL…

The Flames performing better than expected last season may have been unfortunate for Miro. He didn’t get enough consistent play to see if he could adapt his toolbox to the faster play. As was pointed out, he has great tools but makes some bad reads at the faster pace of play. Some players get past this with more experience in the reads. In the AHL, he looked fantastic. I often had to figure out who it was making a fast good play from the back end and would realize it was Miro.

Calgary can bury Miromanov in the AHL and only suffer a $100K Cap Hit.
I think that one of Solovyov (LH LD/RD) or Kuznetsov (LH RD/LD) will take his spot by the end of the pre-season.
