The money overcharged for beer is not going to the beer company anyways. It’s all CSEC. I would imagine the beer producer gets paid no different than the margins you’d get at a bar or liquor store.

If we are complaining about beer, I would love to get Guinness at the dome lol

Knowing the CSEC they asked for a volume discount.

IMO this is a missed opportunity to show some local leadership and sign up Origin Malting & Brewing Company, located in Strathmore with a satellite location right in Calgary. 100% of their beer is made from barley grown on their fifth generation family farm, and they malt it right onsite. Origin makes an amazing selection of great beers and it would be a winning partnership with CSEC.

Just visited Origin brewery this month, and was toured through their Strathmore operations by the owner - an amazing local success story!

Honestly, all NHL teams should make deals with well-run craft breweries in their local market that produce beers at large enough scale.

When will beer drinkers finally stop settling for generic undrinkable chemically aged crap marketed in various fancy labels by Inbev/Molson Coors?

That's the problem though. None of the smaller brewers can produce at a large enough scale.

That's why they kept selling ABInBev beers at the Dome when Original 16 was the official beer sponsor. Great Western couldn't supply enough to be the sole provider.

Some arenas/stadiums have a local beer stand where they'll have a small selection from various local microbreweries. That's probably the best we'll be able to hope for at the Saddledome or Scotia Place.

My buddy was the marketing guy at O16 and Origin hired him to start their own beers and bought in. They are farmers in Strath and have done malting for many of the local brews for years but started their own. Origin is good, not in every store yet.

Absolutely this.

Between the Flames, the Wranglers, the Hitmen and the Roughnecks...the Dome must go through just staggering amounts of beer.

A small local brewery likely cant maintain that and fulfill other obligations!

Now this is the part where I'm going to put on my HazMat suit and prepare for a chemical shower...

I watched a clip about Tottenham Hotspur's new stadium in London and they have a full Brewery in their basement and provide all of their own beer...and it looked amazing!!

We're building a new building...maybe we should have thought of something like that?

And now I've said something good about Tottenham and require delousing...

There's a brewery inside Coors Field in Denver. In fact, it's where Blue Moon was first brewed.
