I don't think Hoffman can be the closer. He has a bad outing if he sits too long, or pitches two in a row. He needs to be the 8th inning guy and just pitch the 8th every 2nd game no matter what. That gets him 80 innings a year which is lots, and if he can do well in that role he earns his money.

Win another game and it's ours as we hold the tie breaker.

We need two. Yankees are tied with us still with their win tonight.

Rogers was O’s ace? The guy who last three innings and gave up 6? That Rogers? Thanks for nothing.

That only works with the same number of wins as NY. If both teams win their remaining games then yes, the tiebreaker gives it to the Jays.

Absolutely.

His stuff may not be as good as a traditional closer. But the passion and energy is there.

Hoffman looks like a deer in the headlights half the time.

Noticed Yankees got some calls to go their way and of course Hoffman got some favourable calls go his way. Umps get the call from MLB to favour Jays and Yankees to try and have division title go to Sunday?

Well, winning tonight is wonderful.

The bad news, unless we clinch tomorrow (call it 25% chance) then Sunday’s game will mean something. Meaning, Gausman goes…

I mean, if you're NOT playing in the wild card you probably want Gausman to go then so he's not off for too long.

Oh 100%. It’s a paradox.

There a good chance that game is important, so you want Gausman.

But then if you end up in the wildcard, you don’t have Gausman available for any of the 3 games (except maybe in a desperation relief role in game 3)

Such a paradox haha.

It's almost worse to win the wild card with him since that renders him not super available for the ALDS. If you can get through it without him, you have a great starter for game 1 of the ALDS. But can they get through it without him?
