Forwards a bit tougher. Guessing 3 out of Morton, Kerins, Honzek, Kirkland will be waived.

Assuming 13 forwards and 8 D with the Andersson situation
Honzek doesn't need to hit waivers and he to me is an obvious send down to AHL. He isn't ready.

Not unexpected to see Carter sent down today. Selfishly, I would have loved to see him in a game with a little more support around him but this year was never about making the Flames. His real training camp will be the Wranglers regular season and showing the staff what he can do so that he can be a dependable and realistic call-up for the Flames. I think he can also show that he can bring things that other potential bottom 6 centers can't as I think he showed some of in the prospect games.

Good experience for him but the work starts now. Thanks to everyone for the kind words during camp.

Well said Taco.

I know that the coaching staff does have a high level of respect for his 200ft game and will look to lean on him heavily with the Wranglers this year. I think he'll take a big step based on my limited viewings, he's a very well rounded player with offensive upside.
Huge step for a local kid, I really hope the story writes itself over the next few years here!

For a guy like Carter I think it'll be really positive for him to be with the Wranglers from Day 1, too, instead of being sent down later in camp and having to get up to speed with that group on the fly. Really looking forward to watching him with the Ws.

I think King goes down because he's extremely versatile and more valuable in the moment on the Wranglers
Sutter will lean hard on Carter me thinks and plays through him becsuse they were / are big leaders and the Wranglers i think have a greater chance to go deep again in that horribad playoff set up the AHL has .

It's tough having prospects so close.....its a GOOD problem to have and well see guys earn cups O coffee alot this year.

What is with Kerins ? Who did he offend to not go farther?

There is something weird going on . I really like what he brings but I must suck as a armchair GM -- Coach

Cooley i think is very much a bubble player still.

Who backs up Wolf ?

I’m keen to see a full healthy season of another local kid, Basha, with the Wranglers.

Thought Basha looked good in the prospects game but from what I saw in preseason you could tell he just needs some time with the Wranglers to adapt to the mens game. I'm sure the club has a roadmap for his development.

Agreed, as far as the pro prospects in our system, I think the timeline to be ready is:

Ready this season:
-Parekh
-Brz
-Kerins
-Morton
-Kuznetsov
-Soloyov

Ready next season:
-Gridin
-Suniev

Ready the following season:
-Basha

Unknown:
-Honzek
-King
-Morin

Deep/deepening prospect pool means quite good players will go down early.

Honzek needs to show some consistent offense and impact in the AHL this year.

My guess is Kerins sticks, Kirkland makes it through, and Morton ends up on another teams fourth line.
