Wait. How can I be wrong for saying I love something but then you suggest the people who are right are the ones not ragging on others. I didn't rag on others, just said what I love.

I love every kind of beer (except stout) and it all depends on the mood I'm in and the setting. I lean towards heavy IPAs, but I'll crush Bud Light Lime's on hot golf days, IPAs at the pub, and Mexican beers on vacation. And everything in between.

At the dome, I seek out the Banded Peak pavilion for Microburst or Crushmore, but they are literally always out of beer lol.

Beer snobbery is one of my favorite snobbery types. Still, people should probably not get offended if someone else has different preferences than you, but I feel like CP will find a way...

Let’s put this theory to the test, what about sour beers?

Yuuuup. Although I've definitely had some that were bad.

Portland has some awesome breweries with decent sours. I'm more partial towards Hazy IPAs though.

Hah crazy, I used to like most beers but sours I could never do. Whatever that lactose flavour they use in making them is, it’s not a taste I enjoy at all. Agreed though a heavy hazy IPA can be great.

So Banded Peak is owned by Labatts which is owned by Anheuser-Busch. It's freakin' Budweiser.
I thought we Canadians were done with US corporate mass produced BS when we have considerably better options locally.

If your gonna split hairs like that, then basically all breweries are owned by like 1 or 2 global companies.

Banded Peak is a Calgary brewery, even if it was sold to an American owned company.

That’s not true at all.

The majority of Calgary breweries are not. Including Big Rock, Village, Cabin, Tool Shed, 88, Annex, etc.

Not even sure I'd consider Big Rock in the same category as some of the others you mentioned, due to how much distribution and penetration they have in the industry. But you're right about the ownership side.

It’s not, but it’s also unique in that it’s an entirely local brewer that also happens to have enough capacity to be the sole supplier of beer for the Saddledome.

I don’t think all or even most of the others could meet Banded Peak’s obligations since they got a capacity boost after being acquired, nor do I necessarily think they’d be interested, but you could easily fill the Dome with a selection of locally owned and operated breweries that aren’t owned by huge international conglomerates.

Yeah and if we're gonna get robbed for beer, I'd rather that money stay local.

They should have had GW O16 Copper at the dome.

It was way better than the lager imo...

I don’t know if it would be feasible at all, but how sweet would it be to have rotating local breweries as the beer suppliers? I’m not sure how it could work between the flames, wranglers, hitmen, inferno and all the other one off events but damn if it wouldn’t be nice to have local options with better beer available.

++ to both these.

I’d be much less depressed paying the insane prices for a limited selection or even just a rotating feature knowing that the beer would be good and it would be supporting truly local brewers.
