Follow the money. This is probably the fund that pays the likes of Keith and Smith to just ride off into the sunset suddenly and no one really knows why.
This is a really bad look for the organization, but the mouth breathers seem pretty blind to it.

Maybe it falls on out of town reporters to ask McDavid if he wants to sign with an organization that steals money earmarked for kids charities?

So they literally stole from their fans, and from charity.
Class act all the way. Bravo Oilers

They need a non-hockey reporter from Edmonton to investigate this.

On the one hand, you have to give credit to the generosity of Oiler fans, raising $102 million in 2024. The Flames raised less than $4M. Administering and disbursing over $100 million is an order of magnitude more complex than what the Flames are doing frankly so you have to expect a much higher level of expense. But there needs to be some transparency over how the Oilers foundation is spending that kind of money, that is an absurd amount.
It's also a good reminder that when all these clubs advertise their financial commitment to the community, they generally are talking about their foundations. The clubs themselves don't contribute much to these foundations, in fact they typically charge back things like rent and salary costs. The overwhelming majority of the donations are sourced from fans through 50/50 draws.

How can we be raising so much less than Edmonton? That doesn't make sense to me.

they are all looking for a way out. Probably could do a 30 in 30 episode with the winners and all of them would have moved away.

They get crazy 50/50's up there, and as already said likely the locals see it as their only way to escape that #####hole.

I’ve always found the Flames Foundation to be a bit greasy. As you say, the Flames are just collecting fan donations, and redistributing those funds to various outlets… all while taking credit for it. I’m not a fan of that system, would rather see proceeds coming from Flames corporate or at least matched. Just doesn’t sit well with me.

This is a fair concern but, honestly, it’s also how the vast majority of charities work.
CSEC does contribute funds (usually around 15% of money raised) and resources to the Flames Foundation.
Individual and corporate/government donations and sponsorships account for the majority of funds of basically any charity.

Not exactly true. Many charities sell things of value and fund raise through various means. The vast majority of funds raised by the Flames foundation come from 50/50 tickets, which is not a charitable donation. Less than 5% of their revenue actually comes from donations.
Also what is your source for the bolded?

Funny enough there is a thread at HF on this. Oiler fans flocking to post a picture of flames org putting 30 cents to every dollar made to charity to distract posters and make Calgary flames look bad lol..

Everyone north of Red Deer and half of Red Deer is a Coilers fan, probably a good chunk of Sask too I would say. Hell, I buy the occasional ticket myself, I wouldn't say no to a million dollars even if I do have to delouse it.
