If that's how you really feel, I pity you. A 51-27 home team going into the final series in first place in the AL east at home. This good of a position may not happen again for decades, so I'd suggest enjoying the excitement. It'll be a long winter of wishing there was baseball to cheer for their team in for most baseball fans. Despite this not having been a great 9 days of baseball overall, going head to head with the Yankees over 3 days and having a game in our back pocket is pretty fun. Just enjoy it and maybe cheer for them to win.

Far from meaningless!
Even if you think the division hopes are cooked, this win accomplished two things. It clinched home field for the Jays in the event of having to play the wildcard, and it made for better chances of facing the Tigers in the WC.
Still lots of moving parts of course but the Tigers face the Sox in the final 3 games are they are separated by only 1 game after tonight.

I bet the Orioles win 2 of 3 against the Yanks. Rogers, Sugano, and Bradish are going to be tough and the Yanks struggled in a couple of the games against the lowly White Sox.

Would be pretty rad if the Red Sox end up missing the playoffs now! They were throwing everything at us tonight to try and clinch and Varsho hits that GS off a lefty. Maybe that will crush that feeble, defensively challenged team as much as it could give us some juice. The Yankees looked pretty beatable against the White Sox too, but that is a AAA team over there on the south side.

Plus we own the tie breaker should we finish tied with Yanks at season end.

I'm late to the punch as I just came home, but it was an enjoyable game. Couldn't move down to empty seats as there were hardly any. Place was packed. Not too often you get to witness a grand slam. The perfect game 2/3rds of the game was also nice to see. Wish there could be more runs cashed in like today.

You have to think at this point in the year for a team that's out of the playoffs but probably wants to be better next year "day to day" should mean "out for the season?"

Rogers on Balt has been the best pitcher in MLB this season - hardly an easy win for NY.
And TB is banged up and really prob just about done caring about this year .
The important thing is to either clinch or be out before the last game . You can not has Gausman pitch that final game

Yeah based on the pitching matchups tonight, this is the one we need to win and Yankees lose.

A win tonight plus Yankees loss would be huge as it eliminates the worst-case scenario which is Jays having to pitch Gausman on Sunday, him winning, but them losing the division to the Yankees anyway.

Yep tonight is the best opportunity to really shift the balance of power back to the Jays. Bieber on the mound for the Jays and the Yanks facing Rogers.
There is a strong case to be made that the Yankees should've lost 2 of 3 against the white sox, except for some divine intervention, so hopefully the Orioles can avenge what has been a tough season for them and put the boots to the Yanks.
It's funny what a win can do for renewed optimism. And maybe this Jays team is better off being the hunter than the hunted. Their plucky never say die approach is what made them so good early in the season. They were never good at getting the early lead and outslugging the opponent. So maybe the micro level mimics the macro level.
(Trying my best to be optimistic but one inning of watching Rays baseball may flip that pretty quick lol)
