Well, that was a huge break, Lukes clearly struck out but gets a second life from the ump, then hits a triple.
And then Vlad with a brutal at bat, now 2 out.

Wasted triple. Vladdy needs to be way way better in that spot. You don't need to swing at the first pitch. Take a pitch or two and find one you like.

Go figure....you put Berrios in the bullpen for the first time and he's immediately on the IL for the first time in his career. I actually like Schneider, but he'll make you scratch your head.

My guess is that Berrios was in the bullpen because he wasn’t right and they wanted to reduce his usage to being the last guy to come out of the pen in hopes that he would start to feel better.

They said on the broadcast that Berrios is on the IL to bring up Schultz.
I checked MLB transactions and it says retroactive to Sept 15th. Anyone have any idea how that could be given he pitched twice since then?
I get wanting Schultz and putting Berrios on the IL (he's probably done for the year anyway)

Varland was awesome. Glad he didn’t start the 3rd though because he’s not stretched out beyond about 28 pitches. As a guy who has been more of a starter, Lauer really benefits from having a clean inning rather than having to come in with guys on base.
