Tomorrow being a bullpen game is going to be another exercise in frustration.

Unless the bats put 12 on the board, as I don’t trust the decision making of JS or PW at the best of times with SP, nevermind a game of planned 6 or 7 guys, and on top of that the pressure is getting to them as it is everyone.

It’s basically a playoff game from here on out and the coaching staff doesn’t have much of a track record to have fans or players confidence in managing the bullpen in the post season. They’ll either be too cautious and or over manage and that throws everyone off.

I got tickets to tomorrow’s game. Got $20 seats with today’s promo code running but will just go and ignore the scoreboard. Perhaps I’ll bring my glove for the first time and wait like a kid trying to take in the fun things like catching a hr ball.

Good luck. Hope they can win it for you! Somehow, someway

Yeah. For a team that has won a lot of games on contributions from "overlooked" type guys (eg Clement, Lukes, Straw, Schneider, even Springer who everyone thought was washed up after last year) I wonder if treating Lauer like that broke the vibe in the room. Because he was the best starter until then and they skipped him, then demoted him to the bullpen after one rough start.

I think if you make those decisions based on name/pedigree instead of results it really hurts buy-in on playing a team first game.

But this wouldnt be the first year questionable pitching decisions made a big negative difference....

And the Yankees just caught us. Tie breaker, yes, but still what a fall from grace after being up 5 games. What a gut wrenching way to finish a Cinderella season.

.
Yeah, and a rough start on extra rest too.

I believe this team will figure it out, I just hope they do it in time.

Hopefully it ends up being the "epic" kind of gut wrenching....there is something to be said for not coasting in and resting players and....

I just saw the Kirk throw out from the outfield.

I know he's slow but come on man. The same thing when Guerrero got thrown out on that diving play. Show some desperation instead of just giving up and dogging it.

Not sure Scherzer should have gotten another start after the KC debacle but regardless of pitching the offence putting up 1 run a game is not a winning strategy.

Sad to see the division lead reduced to zero.

So in the Blue Jays infinite wisdom, they have pushed Bieber back from tomorrow to Friday. Yesavage Saturday, and Gausman Sunday.

Meaning, if the Jays end up in the wildcard (pretty likely now), which starts on Tuesday - our choices for starting pitcher will be between Scherzer, Lauer, and Berrios.

I guess I’d pick Lauer at this point.

Hopefully they hold Gausman back Sunday and save him

I understand how hard it is to make the playoffs in baseball, it is a huge feat in and of itself but I just cringe at how they celebrate like they won the pennant.

There is still so much work left, they have been hot garbage the past week and a half against average opponents.

Just not a confidence building team at the moment.

My guess is they maybe don’t want the Sox to see Beiber before they’d maybe see him in the playoffs.

But as I said, I don’t really trust JS and PW with how they manage pitchers especially when things start getting sticky and complicated and they are trying to erase their playoff screwups 2 and 3 years back.

At this rate it won't matter who they start if the bats don't get going

Varland Lauer Nance Rodriguez Dominguez Fisher Little Hoffman. My guess is that 7 of 9 are all pitching tomorrow unless it’s a blowout (either way).
