The Mexican ones made with cane sugar are worth it for the rare treat.

Think of it this way: you are going to die no matter what. It's coming for you. Obviously I'm not going to start doing heroin and smoking as if nothing matters, but I'm also not bothering sweating a bunch of stuff I used to worry more about. I didn't even start drinking Diet Coke until I was 40. Like...I only drank water and then beer when I'd go out. Then as I started seeing people like aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc. dying I noticed nobody died from "the thing" that everyone thought would get them. It was always an unpredictable left field thing that got 'em.
Aside from those obvious things like hard drugs, smoking cigarettes, no exercise, alcoholism, obesity, etc., death and disease is an inevitability you cannot head off.

I take your point. However, watching my mother, her mother and father all struggle with dementia, I would rather get hit by a bus than exist like that. But using the same logic as you, I may not get 'struck by lightning', and I would rather be able to interact with the world around me, waiting for my demise when a study says a 300% increase in the likelihood of getting it, that makes it a little harder to yell YOLO and drive my rascal off a cliff.
(Which, now that I think about it, is a bad-ass way to check out if the big D does show up.)

I'll admit that I will have some Coke Zero Sugar most afternoons for my caffeine fix. Particularly in warmer months when coffee isn't as appealing. On weekends you can buy 6 of the 710ml bottles for $3.99. So if you have half a bottle, it works out to like 35 cents. Which if it saves me having to live in a care home for 6 years in my 90's...well worth it!

I miss the Bay. My son needs some dress pants for a wedding. The Bay was our 'go to' for this kind of thing. They had tons of brands/selection and almost always had a sale on much of it.

What must Commercial Property Insurance premiums cost in places like Metropolis?
"Likelihood of Catastrophic Property damage?"
- Extremely high.
Its not like Hail or Water damage or anything, do they even craft a policy for things like that?
"So...complete and utter destruction due to intergalactic conflict between space villains and metahumans you say?"
Look...the little box provided on form 4F really doesnt give enough space to properly outline the circumstances of the damages.

Costco made their muffins smaller and now sell them with eight in a container. People are flipping out. The old muffins were basically cake and not a reasonable serving size for an average person, so I don't mind.

All muffins are cake. In most cases you are better off eating a donut than a muffin.

Murphy's Irish Stout?
According to this... it might be hard to find because there's only 2 places in Calgary and 7 in Alberta that stock/imported it to Alberta? And for whatever odd reason, the only one listed is a 30L keg.

Is it though? Aspartame has been around for over 50 years now, and there haven't been any proven health issues from it in all that time. The only thing I can find is that the WHO lists it as "possibly carcinogenic", but if you were to cutout every food or drink in that category you'd probably have a boring life. Straight up sugar is so much worse, so anything I can do to limit my intake while still enjoying small vices I'll take

They can increase risk of type 2 diabetes.
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10465821/
Quote:
drinking just a single can of artificially sweetened soft drink a day over several years was associated with a 38 percent higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes, compared to people who rarely drank sweetened beverages.
Ironically, that's higher than the 23-percent increase in diabetes risk associated with sugar-sweetened drinks.

They can also mess with your mood:
Quote:
Aspartame intake affected certain aspects of neurobehavioral performance. Spatial orientation was weaker and irritability and depression were more frequent after high-aspartame consumption than low aspartame consumption when subjects served as their own controls. Furthermore, seven participants experienced clinically significant neurobehavioral conditions following the higher level of aspartame consumption. A diet high in aspartame did not influence working memory or headaches.

I also think they can be addictive. I'd rather just not have them.

Muffins are cake-like in their ingredients but usually differ in the method. Less sugar and more liquid. Costco muffins used the cake method though.
A donut might have less sugar. I can agree on that. Muffins, especially bran muffins, were sold as health food but the added fibre did not make up for all of the sugar.
