Yeah, Gridin has playmaking skills--from the prospect games, he holds onto the puck a lot and his creativity draws defenders towards him, opening up the ice for a pass--but he also put up 4.2 shots per game last year in the QMJHL. I'm not sure how to find the league leaders in CHL leagues, but the top shooter in the NHL put up 4 a game, so his stats show that he's probably a shoot first guy.

I agree on Coronato, but he's got one of the best shots I've seen and I'd like to see that prioritized.

This might be part of that, as Coronato is good at finding space and that may play really well with Gridin's creativity that seems to suck defenders in and open up the ice for him to pass.

Kadri seems like a bit of an odd fit between them other than he'll hold them accountable and certainly has the skills to play with them--and they don't really have a different option at centre.

Waived and cleared players traded for other waived and cleared players makes sense from an asset management viewpoint. Then they can be brought up and sent down throughout the season by their new teams.

I actually liked him at C to start last season between Huberdeau and Mantha. I thought he trailed off when they kept switching him between center and wing. I just hope he worked on his faceoffs. I expect a big year from him, and I think the bottom 6, and 4th line in particular are going to win the Flames a lot of games this year.

I'm more curious about the PK centers. Rooney was the 3rd forward in PK TOI/GP. Kirkland didn't play since November. Morton has 1 NHL game, and Frost wasn't used on the PK last year. Moreover PK faceoffs, and the lack of a RS C, were a huge problem because teams kept choosing Backlund's weakside for faceoffs.

Pretty big deal for a 19 year old to be singled out when it comes to fitness testing. Gridin was kinda the "who?" after we had already drafted Parekth earlier in the 1st but he's a very good prospect.

Miro has to know this could be his last chance.
Would be neat if he could come in and win back a spot.

Speed is the most important thing in those overtimes, excited to see a healthy Zary

Last season: 10-14 overall in extra time... 5-12 in OT and 5-2 in Shootouts.

If they had gone 8-9 in OT, they would have easily made the playoffs and finished only 2 points behind the Oilers and 1 point higher than the Panthers.

I could never figure Miromanov out. But also don’t think he has the toolbox to be an NHLer. But if he takes a step the Flames Dman bottleneck will become a full on logjam.

Makes the Andersson situation that much more unfortunate.
