Uh oh.
Time to trade McTavish for a lightly used Sharangovich.

That's a big hit for MIN. Despite his age, he was their top line RW last year, that played 20mins a night. I think this makes Tarasenko the next man up. They might load up the top line with Boldy, but that doesn't leave Rossi much to play with.
This has me cautiously optimistic the Wild get off to a bad start.

Zuccarello is also Kaprizov’s best bud on the team.

I would disagree.
KK is a 100pt player and Svechnikov has only broken 60pts twice in 7 seasons.
You can't make up that type of gap in the aggregate. Elite talent needs to be acquired at almost any cost. Without it, you get teams like Carolina who can't make that jump to the next level.

Well we will disagree. Personally I would rather pay Svechnikov 7.5M to score me 70 points and use the other 9-10M to fill in other key pieces or even another top end player. No winger in the game is worth 16+ million dollars a year. Especially one with Kaprisov's health record.

Barry Trotz insists they won't part with him, but RW Luke Evangelista is still sitting out without a contract. I would love to bring him here (despite the many logistical issues), he's a slick playmaker who is very well-rounded, and plays a sound two-way game. He had some struggles with inconsistency last year, but he's going to be a good one.

I'm hearing talks with Lomberg on an extension is in the works, Not sure I see a raise but he's a valuable piece for this team IMO.

Svechnikov has never had 70 points. Last season he didn't even hit 50. Kaprivov has played 12 less games that the Svechnikov over the last three seasons. They've both had surgeries to repair their respective injuries

I'm with you on this point. It's certainly debatable whether Kaprizov would be worth the contract, I'd much rather take a shot at Kaprizov over Svech, who seems to have hit a ceiling the last few years.

Oh, I'm sorry, 69. That one point difference is huge! Last season Kaprisov hit 56 points. He has never played a full 82 games, he did manage 81 when he hit 106 points a couple years ago .every other year he has missed significant time due to injury. That isn't a guy I am paying $16M+ a year to.

Well it's one point for one season, there's six other seasons where he didn't hit 70 points either.
You do realize that Kaprisov's rookie season he only missed one game, right? You're looking at 55 games and forgetting something.
Svechnikov has played a full 82 once in comparison.

Kap missed 41 games last year, 2 other years he missed 7 and 15. I think it is a bit early to say he is injury proned as he has had 2 seasons where he missed 1 game.
I agree with you on this one. Svechnikov contract is great because he signed a few years ago. But he will be a UFA in 29 and will get paid way more as well.
Kap is a superstar IMO. Minnesota has a good team around him, but he is the offence on that team. Most of his time in Minnesota he has played with 0 other high-end talent putting up 40+ goals and 100+ point seasons. A good GM fills holes in a team, adding a superstar is much harder to do than adding depth.

Hope it's a contract for coaching. Guy is a bottom line forward in his 30s, no need to sign him so early.

Lomberg is a great locker room guy but this shouldn't be a priority.
Ideally he's the 13th forward already this year. When I look at the 4th line right now and I see
Lomberg - Pospisil - Klapka
Or
Honzek - Pospisil - Klapka
I know what one I prefer. This team needs to get younger and open up spots for all the young wingers in the pipeline. If Lomberg is happy to be 13th forward then sure, but I really don't think he should be playing all 82 for this org.
