Aren't you basically saying ignore actual data and follow me down my biased rabbit hole?

I would guess the eye test does a lot more damage than analytics do overall.

Has anyone heard if the Flames will be doing “The Chase” YouTube documentary again this season?

No, I'm saying posters like you who think analytics are the be all end all are wrong. I can use analytics to argue Evan Bouchard is the second best two way D man in the league. I can use analytics to argue Jake Bean is a better D man than Rasmus Andersson. If a defenseman is not good in his own end but his forward group scores most often when he is on the ice I can use analytics to suggest that D man is a stud defensively. The eye test doesn't mislead with numbers and it doesn't lie, that's why we watch the games.

I don’t post ever but saying the eyetest doesn’t lie is not a good statement especially when trying to say analytics is biased.Analytics attempts to eliminate bias but yes it can be used to mislead, but the eyetest is horrendous for bias. You might watch a player all game but you will focus subconsciously on things you want to see,and you are going to weight things you liked over you didn’t like, AND your eyetest is only as good as your individual hockey IQ and understanding of the game. The eye test alone is awful. Ideally, analytics and “eye test” combined give a clearer picture, but this is a complicated sport.

I have eyes too believe it or not.

And opinions of my own that aren't analytics.

But if I have an axe to grind on a player and I notice his analytics don't line up with my axe I tend to ask myself am I wrong? What's his role? Is he meeting the expectations of his role?

I'm thankful there are analytics though because too often players that do all the little things right are completely over looked by those that focus on either offence only or superficial counting stats.

Think about the bolded. So a player goes an entire season with less bad stuff happening defensively but gets no credit because he's bald ass lucky enough to have forwards carry him every time he's on the ice.

Seriously?

And if you don't think an eye test misleads let me introduce you to the term confirmation bias.

They typically haven’t been for the last few years, I too would be interested to know if someone’s heard otherwise.
I caught a few early sessions at WinSport last camp. It was great. But I can appreciate that allowing people into the dome is a different matter.
