During Kimmel’s Monday night monologue, the comedian made remarks about the motives of the suspect accused of fatally shooting Kirk last week. “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” Kimmel said on his show.
Earlier on Wednesday, Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr publicly called on licensed broadcasters to stop airing Kimmel’s show.

worth noting that a Fox host suggested killing homeless people only a few days ago. But yeah, better cancel the late show host who's mean to Trump, makes sense.

The speed at which that country is descending into fascism is amazing. It’s only been 7 1/2 months FFS. The U.S. constitution is being absolutely shredded.

I envision Trump using it like a bib as he eats his cheeseburgers and gets ketchup all over it.

With all this 'cancellation' going on unless you're a right wing nutjob who licks the conservative boot, the rest of the world really needs to step up and make their voices heard even more if the voices of good, reasonable and sane Americans out there are being suppressed within the US's increasingly authoritarian grip.
On a another note, I wish these nutjobs down south would just own who they are - fascists and bigots. Denying that they are amounts to them KNOWING that their positions and actions are not socially acceptable. Cowardice in its own right.

I wonder how long this stuff continues before we see any pushback. I'm not advocating violence, but you can't watch your country falling further and further into authoritarianism and just sit on your hands and just shrug your shoulders.
Or maybe you can? Nothing happening so far. Never thought I'd see that country bow down and lick the boots of a convicted felon, con man, pedophile and rapist.
It's surreal to watch it unfold and see no pushback.

Remember folks, conservatives hate cancel culture. Except for Jimmy Kimmel. And Bud Light. And Colin Kaepernick. And Starbucks. And The (formerly Dixie) Chicks. And Nike. And M&Ms. And Keurig. And French fries. And pretty much any book that has ever been banned or challenged.
But yeah, conservatives definitely, for sure, totally hate cancel culture.

There has been pushback just maybe not reported in major media sources. I see daily protests in cities nationwide, lawsuit after lawsuit, local politicians speaking out and going so far as to physically chase ICE in some instances. It's a country of 330 some odd million people. Unless you’re saying you'd like to see more violence what sort of pushback do you expect?
Maybe democrats grow a spine and let the government shutdown here soon but I expect they'll vote to keep some short term funding open as they're complicit cowards. If the pushback you expect it's from a national politics level you'll have to keep waiting.

Incredible. ABC just folds like a cheap tent on a nothing burger comment from Kimmel after the fcc chair goes out and threatens them. The timeline in the states is way worse than I thought it would be.

I can understand why ABC did what they did. Kimmel was retiring anyway, and after he is retired ABC still has the President to battle. Its a fairly painless way to avoid a bigger problem.
I think if Kimmel show was a massive revenue generator and he was top of his career (not way out) ABC likely wouldn’t have folded. Late night isn’t worth it anymore.
Kimmel can now start a Podcast to counter Rogan. Probably will be more influential.

You're right, I haven't seen much of that. Glad to hear at least some people are speaking out but not sure that will do much of anything. Would be nice, but I doubt it.
I don't want violence, but at this rate I don't see a lot of other options if you're talking about democracy or no democracy. Dems hoping the mid term elections will turn things around is wishful thinking imo and will probably be far too late anyways. We're not even a year in to the convicted felon's term. And if he's not dead he'll run again in 2028 and win.

Jimmy Fallon going from last place in the ratings to first place cause his competition got fired, while continuing to be bland and inoffensive, is easily the worst part of all of this.

Looks like he’s next on the Trump late night hit list.

TV is going to suck hard in Nazi America. Late night evangelical talk shows will replace Colbert and Kimmel. Garbage prime time reality shows will continue to thrive while Running Man and Death Race 2000 rip offs will fill the Friday night slots.

I think we need to be careful not to link things emotionally until there is evidence. There are mass shootings in the US everyday. At this point this one seems drug related.

Honestly found myself enjoying Kimmel the most of the late night hosts in the last few years. I find him to come across much more genuine and less performing than the other guys. He appears stoned most of the time and speaks from the heart.
I think all these guys become much more vocal and powerful away from heavily censored TV stations. That doesn't mean it's not insane that these shows are getting axed by the government like this.

Does Jimmy Fallon even really do political humour? I don't watch him a lot, but I thought he mostly stayed away from it.
