Did it still have the F### Trudeau sticker or had they updated it yet?

There is A LOT of ground laying happening in front of our eyes about the "radical left violence" and "biased media" to justify a lot of curtailment of freedom and other authoritarian moves.

Vance's speech was all this - on top of all the Trump's rhetoric.

Day by day, they move the Overton window what's acceptable. Basic authoritarian playbook.

Sorry, didn’t you just respond to the suggestion that people being harmed or killed with the idea that they are not entitled to freedom from consequences?

Which is it? A consequence or a crime?

Kash is fighting to keep his job.
His inexperience in law enforcement and need to show how it was him that got the shooter...has most likely given a lot of help to the shooters defense attorneys.

Long thread on it here

The vice president hosted the dead poscaster's show today, proclaiming they're going to target what they've decided is the far left violence. Outside of that not existing it sounds like a good plan. No word on what they're doing about the right wing violence (jan6, Minnesota reps, Kirk)

I suspect this goes well. Oh and the US killed some more Venezuelans without evidence but that's what happens when you drive a boat into international waters. Lesson learned.

Good lord this is desperate on your part. If you couldn’t tell that was sarcasm, even if it is probably true, and had to make a response based mostly on that instead of the actual subject we were discussing I think it’s safe to say that you’re not really looking for a good faith discussion. But oh well.

Piss off, Iggy; oppression isn't a debate coupon you can flash when cornered,

Cornered? You put words in my mouth to try and make your last point. Now instead of just taking back what you said you’re opting to try and spin a joke into a reason to accuse me of playing the victim. Ironically you follow it up with trying to “out victim me” which was a nice touch.

Seriously man it’s just starting to look like you’ve got a personal issue with me that you’re letting get the best of you.

and it doesn't magically launder a weak argument. I'm a half-Pakistani dude whose skin tone puts him on the wrong side of "…hmm, is he deportable?" I would certainly be at a very real risk of being shot or shipped off to Venezuela if I set foot there, and it's thanks to the rhetoric of people like Kirk and his sհitbird ilk who make it possible. I still stop well short of anything approaching 'cheering'.
Yourself nor anyone else deserves that treatment or should ever have to feel that way. It doesn’t give you the right to try and twist my words though. I am 100% opposed to the racial abuses happening in the US as a result of their government policies.

But I can oppose that without agreeing that an individual arbitrarily deciding to murder a loudmouth jackass who promotes those terrible policies as being a good solution and the reason for that is because I want the opponents of the bad policy to be able to rally support for their cause without having to worry about another individual arbitrarily deciding to assassinate them for opposing it. How you consider that to be unreasonable or how you came to the conclusion that that should be interpreted as me saying that everyone needs to be weeping for him is beyond me. I’m certainly not weeping for him.

I don’t even know what you’re pissed off about anymore. What weak argument did I specifically make that you’re now accusing me of trying to “launder”?

You went as far as unfoundedly accusing me of “scolding” people because you clearly misunderstood my post as being critical of anyone who isn’t weeping for the guy when I’m not even weeping for him myself. I don’t think assassinations are the answer, even when it happens to people who promote political messaging that I strongly disagree with. That was literally the only message I was trying to get across.

Quote:
And for the millionth bloody time, the vast majority here are not cheering. We simply reject the absurd notion that refusing to weep for the loss of a preacher of carnage is equivalent to endorsing his murder. That distinction matters, and it's mighty telling that your only response is to clutch your hypothetical bullet wounds in the face of discussing real ones.
When did I say you or anyone else had to weep for the guy? When did I say that the vast majority here are cheering? Like WTF are you even talking about at this point? I never accused anyone on here of applauding his assassination. I was making a general comment based on the fact that that is actually happening in the world. If you’re insecure to the point that you somehow interpreted that as an attack on you or your reaction to the his death I really don’t know what to tell you other than you should maybe seek help for that.

Get a grip man.

I don’t think calling him insecure or suggested he needs to seek help is doing you the favours you think it’s doing you.

Couple questions: had you actually read the conversation up to the point where you dropped in? And did you make clear you were making a general comment about what’s happening in the world vs a comment about anyone here?

What favours do you think that I think it’s doing for me Pepsi?

Pepsi why don’t I not answer your questions and you can just give me each lecture you’ve got prepared for any answers that I give?

You already know that if there was any misinterpretation of my initial post that I’ve clarified it. Maybe you should ask yourself why the poster complaining about my post didn’t ask for any clarification and instead chose to try and put words in my mouth by claiming I said things that I didn’t? Or why they can’t admit that they did that?

You think they’re clever way to insult Torque while blowing off steam, or you alternative actually believe them and think you’re giving genuine advice. Neither are true.

Instead of going off about what I have prepared, what I know, or what I should do, and assuming your initial post was as genuine and naive to the tone and content of the thread to that point as you’re claiming it is, why not just answer the two questions?

Because I have nothing prepared, don’t know whether you’ve clarified it, and asked you questions, not anyone else, because I’m genuinely curious.

This can’t possibly be your response if you were actually looking for a good faith discussion. I’m not Locke gearing up for some union rant, you and I have always had pretty respectful exchanges and I’ve had your back plenty, so not sure why you immediately started taking shots.

What are you basing that assessment on?

Going off? I thought my response my pretty tame.
The questions you asked a) weren’t really relevant to mine and torque’s discussion and b) had you actual followed the thread you’d have notice that I already answered your second question, which made the first one humorously ironic to me.

If you were legitimately that curious I’m not sure why you’re still asking if I clarified it. I did so previously in the discussion and alluded to that in literally the post you’re responding to here.

Yeah I think you’re a good dude Pepsi even if others disagree and we do usually have pretty respectful exchanges, if memory serves me correctly I’ve also had your back on more than one occasion over the years. So you’ll have to forgive me for finding you’re complaining about my post while giving a free pass to torque to be a little hypocritical when he not only set the tone of the exchange but also continues to try and put words in my mouth because of his misinterpretation of my post. Of course if you can point out where I said the things he’s insinuating that I said, such as that he or others here are celebrating his loss, that people should be “weeping” his loss, or that refusing to mourn his loss is equivalent to celebrating etc I’ll gladly take back my assessment of your post.

Also when you respond to a poster who was basically trying to say something nice to someone with this:

You kinda lose a bit of the moral high ground to complain about how others respond to people on here. I don’t know who that dude is but shouldn’t we be encouraging people being more open to hearing out those they don’t always agree with?

I’m not complaining nor seeking any moral high ground, I was just asking you questions that, apparently, are hilariously ironic and irrelevant.

Instead of doing all this work imagining every angle someone might be coming from you at, why not just humour my dumb ass and answer? lol.

Firstly, it was a sarcastic comment.

Secondly, you’d be mistaken in your assumption that I never find myself south of the border.

Thirdly, I’m no stranger to getting threatened with violence from time to time in Canada for my views so unless torque does too I don’t see how my comment would be egomaniacal even if I wasn’t making it sarcastically.

And finally, are you not familiar with our current provincial government?
