King impressed all weekend. Obviously has a high hockey IQ, reads plays well, has great positioning with and without the puck. Like hes a step ahead and knows what he needs to do or where he needs to go. Great anticipation.
He seems like the type of player that will gel and be even better with higher (NHL) talent around him. He also won a lot of faceoffs. Seems like the kind of player ala Backlund that does all the little things right.
Has to have put himself on the coaches radar after these two games.

Great game. Lots of fun. Will be happy when it’s winter as I think I’ve seen more than enough nasty toes perched over the backs of seats for the rest of my life.
Carter King isn't getting enough credit IMO. Things will get a lot harder against the pros in camp, but he was clearly ahead of everyone else in these two games- he already plays a pro-style game, with a detailed two-way approach, and takes care of all the little things that usually go unnoticed. Good face-off guy (from what I could tell), and a hard-working, cerebral defensive player.
I also thought that Gridin and Suniev were equals, and like King, they do a lot of the unheralded work, and both are play-drivers. I also believe that both will be in the big leagues sooner than anyone expects.
I was at the game tonight, but missed most of the first period (I left the house early too) due to the s**t show in the Saddledome parking lot because three other events going on: a Cirque show in a giant tent, a Monster Truck Rally, and something else in the BMO Center....
