Default Flat screen wall mounting advice

I have a 37" Sharp Aquos that I am going to wall mount and I thought I'd see if you folks have any advice. The instructions to mount it (tilt type) seem easy enough, it's the running of the wires through the wall to hide them that has me a little nervous. Any surprises or tricks out there?

Sorry if fata - I looked in the sticky thread and didn't see much on this specific topic.

Yes, which is why I am nervous about punching holes in them.

I do alot of fishing of cables. Always try to keep it clean as possible. I cant really give u a price on it yet. Would have to take a look first to see what needs to be done. You can give me a call at 827-5007 the names Jared. If Im unreachable, as my phone is a little mess up right now, You can give my business partner a call at 804-7161, his Name is Dave. Also my Business name is Phoenix Custom Electronics and Intergration. We do alot of custom plazma mounts and Home threater installs to.

Where abouts is your entertainment system in relation to your TV?

You could always buy some snake tube from HomeDepot and run the cables through there if its not to far away. Then paint the tube the same colour as your wall.

I would be wary of going into the wall your self as it can be dangerous if you dont know what you are doing.

sparky69 had his partner come over and hook us up last night. These guys were great and they came over the same day I called. They hung the LCD and fished everything down through the wall and out to the outlets. After watching them struggle (my builder didn't make things easy for them behind this particular wall) for two and a half hours I know it wasn't something I could have done myself without butchering things. They actually gave me a discount because it took them so long!

It was $200.00 dollars well spent and I'd recommend them to anyone looking for this type of work to be done.

Was that $200 for the labour, or did that include the bracket as well?

Nope just labour. I bought the mount from Costco on the weekend for $99.00. It is at least half what you would pay at Best Buy et al.

It may sound like a lot for labour but I'm telling you these guys earned it.

Now I am worried, we are getting a wall mount TV next week. Wife has complete confidence in my ability to mount it. I, on the other hand, have a more realistic view.

My roommate and I are looking to mount our T.V. but we can barely afford the mount let alone the labour…

The older I get, the more I see this ring true. Especially for something that is much cosmetic as it is technical. Good to hear it worked out great for you.

Thanks for the recommendation!! Spoke to Dave today. He told me about the renovation problems that he came across. Glad everything work out alright for you though! Yeah it was $200 for the job, But also SportsJunky got the Line Level cables (Cable's that go from the TV to the receiver/Cable box) Fish though the wall for that price to.

fotze Im sending you a pm about your situation

If you're running the wires down to a DVD player of other device, the floating shelves from Ikea work pretty good for keeping those devices on. you can run the wires to just above the shelves and into the back of the DVD players and they maintain a wireless, bracketless look to go with your mounted TV.

Keeps eveything nice and clean

I was going to do exactly that with some floating shelves we bought at Pottery Barn but they are only 10" deep and the digital box didn't look right hanging over the front edge so I scrapped the idea at the last minute.

If your accessories fit on these shelves it makes for a great look.
