Strong comments from the guy, as even if it is true that Kaprizov rejected the Wild's offer, Guerin is still wooing him publicly which might work out for them if they're still talking potential contract.
Maybe McDavid's agent is thowing out disinformation. "If KK can turn down that contract, surely the Oilers have to pay McDavid more".

I would say both scenarios are possible: 1) He thinks there are better offers out there or 2) He doesn't want to stay in Minny for his entire career.

I personally think 2 is more likely, but who knows? I don't sense that Elliot knows either.

Matthews has been doing it right all along I guess

With the cap going up as much as it is in the next few seasons it seems to be a trend that players are refusing decent contract offers trying to get a piece of the cap increase.

Wowwwww.

I bet Montreal is licking their chops. Nothing would be better than to have Demidov and Kaprizov ripping it up together on the same line.

Kap has a full no move clause and I assume he would only ask to be traded to a team he wants to sign with. Minnesota isn't going to get a ton of options on this one.

If CC could somehow get Kaprizov...

Eichel was the last player of this caliber to get dealt.

To VGK: Jack Eichel, 3rd Round Pick
To BUF: Alex Tuch, Peyton Krebs, 1st Round Pick (Top-10 Protected), 2nd Round Pick

....

To CGY: Kirill Kaprizov
To MIN: Connor Zary, Samuel Honzek, 2026 1st Round Pick (VGK), 2026 2nd Round Pick (CGY), and maybe a depth pick or an additional 2nd round pick?

He definitely doesn't fit the age range we seem to be openly targeting though (turned 28 this past April)

Kaprizov will go to FLA, TB or NYR (outside chance).

Eichel had a lot of question marks due to health.

Tkachuk would be the other comparable.

Huberdeau (coming off 115 point season), Weegar, 1st, Prospect (Recent 2nd round pick)

Good lord, the Flames don't need another LW whose going to be locked into his late 30s, and making $15M plus

Eichel and Tkachuk did not have trade protection. Eichel was also signed for many year.

Kap will not be asking to go to the Flames.

Players this good do not grow on trees. The Flames do not have any even close to as good as he is. But he is not picking Calgary

If the Flames want in on this, it will be landing someone that gets moved out to make room for Kap. Problem is, Minnesota will RS on Kap for this year and whatever team gets him will have the summer of 26 to fit him in.

Am I missing something about Kaprizov? He's a good player, but often injured, and probably not a guy that will carry a team on his own. I would not pay him more than what Pissy is making.

I certainly wouldnt give up a huge contract or assets considering where we are in our development path. The Flames absolutely shouldn't even be in this conversation.

Kaprizov is 28. He came into the league late. He's not a super young buck as some think. Not sure many players can truly carry the team on their own (McDavid, Crosby, MacKinnon, Makar, Kucherov, maybe Drai)? For that alone I wouldn't give him that money. But nobody again, I think deserves such a high percentage of the cap. It simply kills the teams' ability to build a full team.

He had an argument for best player in the league last year until he got hurt, and Minnie's record showed he was carrying them a lot.
