Yeah, you might have to up the bill to cover the shipping.

If I get walked they should still have to pay my legit expense account right? It’s about 1,500 bucks. I asked a week ago and no response yet? I loathe to more conflict but I should probably follow up?

Short answer is yes they should if those were legitimate expenses incurred when you worked there.

Did you submit them before you resigned?

Yeah I think UCB is right, they should have to pay it, but you might have to consistently pester them for it.

Tell you what, you bring the cooler of beer and I'll bring the lawn chairs, we make signs and sit out front of their office until they pony up.

Why are so many people now describing being away from the office as “on PTO”? I get a log of auto-replies saying “hey, blah blah, I am on PTO until whenever”, or someone will just sat, “so and so is on PTO until whenever”. Why do they feel the need to say that instead of “away from office until whenever”?

They're bragging.

We are told to format our out of office replies that way.

Provides a timeline and should also include an alternate contact for immediate response requests.

Default Random Questions Mega Thread v1.1

It’s not the message itself about being out of the office, I am just confused about why the term PTO instead of something more generic like “Away”. Is it intended to imply something? I guess I noticed this starting a lot with American vendors more than anyone else. Usually I just make my auto-replies like, “I will be away from Jan 5th to Jan 10th”. Does anyone need to know whether the time is paid or unpaid or in-lieu?

No. Not at all. And I'm not sure why anyone would care one way or another.

"I am just not here. For one reason another. I shall return upon this date. That is all. Good day."

It's probably to indicate the difference between being away on personal time, or away on business, where someone may still expect a response.

It’s this. PTO is just a universally understood term that indicates the person is not working at all and to expect no response. Out of office, unavailable, away, etc can mean different things with different expectations around access or attention to email.
