If a man murders another man/woman in cold blood, on video, it should be the death penalty.

Putting soldiers on the streets using the false pretense of out-of-control crime isn't a distraction?

It is. I was just coming in from a totally different/unrelated perspective.
Soldiers on the streets is insanity

This particular incident is getting a ton of media coverage, so i am not sure why some are claiming it isn't.
Why is it?
I stated somewhere else that it's a statistically rare occurrence so that will usually get some attention. Also, it being random gets people interested (could it happen to me?).
But the main reason is clearly because it was on video and people are pretty ####ed up about death porn

Anyway in more shocking news the Supreme Court has once again sided with the current administration
Quote:
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court on Monday cleared the way for federal agents to conduct sweeping immigration operations in Los Angeles, the latest victory for President Donald Trump’s administration at the high court.
The conservative majority lifted a restraining order from a judge who found that “roving patrols” were conducting indiscriminate arrests in LA. The order had barred agents from stopping people solely based on their race, language, job or location.
Trump’s Republican administration argued the order wrongly restricted agents carrying out its widespread crackdown on illegal immigration.
U.S. District Judge Maame E. Frimpong in Los Angeles had found a “mountain of evidence” that enforcement tactics were violating the Constitution. The plaintiffs included U.S. citizens swept up in immigration stops. An appeals court had left Frimpong’s ruling in place.

That's pretty cool, it will make the logistics for the invasion and occupation of Chicago a bit easier to pull off. Stop and frisk as a national policy is pretty neat

Look at the violent communities in the States as well as Canada and the demographics of those places. They are often very poor communities and people don't have the opportunities than many of us likely take for granted every day.
As for politics it is easier to have a belief in personal responsibility rather than societal failures, even if it is a lazy and expensive way to deal with the situations at hand.

Yeah, every 5 minutes he “wins” again. I’m sure the usual-suspect YTers will respond with some hyperbolic hopium. And the MAGAs will cheer. And you can tell them that one day The Regime will come after them and they’ll laugh.
I was in an online discussion yesterday about the Venezuelan boat and the South Koreans at the Hyundai plant.
Non -MAGAs posted that it looked like it was the company’s fault, because the actual work was delayed or something; so not the workers’ fault. Also most of their visas were still good.
I posted that it seems like only rich white male Christians are allowed to make mistakes or miscalculations now. I was promptly called a racist by a bunch of old white people. I’m an old white person, you idiots. Change the word “rich” to “poor” and think again. From my experience working at Medicare it’s the white people who always think they’re being cheated out of something. But they’re delusional and think they’re going to get rich in this new Golden Age, so it’s pointless to discuss.

No doubt the Supreme Court is going to rule in favour of Trump on pretty much every single case going forward, including their upcoming appeal over the illegal use of tariffs and every other constitution-violating bulls*** this government has done or will do.
The U.S. is finished as a democracy. There are no more guardrails. The lower courts have put in a valiant effort to try and stop some of this crap, but sadly, at this point all they're doing is delaying the inevitable.

Yeah Roberts just overturned 70+ years of precedent to let Trump fire an FTC commissioner with no explanation all by himself by staying lower courts' rulings with no explanation.
Lots of articles lately about the SC's use of the shadow docket and other methods to give Trump power without having to explain anything leaving lower courts with no idea what to do.. follow generations of precedent or just do whatever Trump would want preemptively.

Given the colossal #### show south of the border, I've been actually curious to see what happens with NHL players. Does Canada become a more preferable place to play in? I'm largely of the opinion that most young NHL players won't care much (if at all), but there are many multi-nationals in the league, including veterans with families, and it does give one pause for thought.
If I was a well-read player and kept up to date with the happenings down there (and I wasn't a MAGAt/Trump cultist), would this affect where I want to play going forward?

You'd think that with lifetime appointments on the SC, these s***stain justices would have no reason to be scared of Trump, or his handlers, or anyone for that matter, and they could just put their heads down and do their f'n jobs the way they're supposed to with honour and dignity. And yet with case after case, they continue to do his bidding like they're scared of being fired. It's beyond shameful.

Remember that 1/3 of voters WANTS this. 1/3 didn't even bother to vote Kamala, so they are OK with this. Only 1/3 voted against this.
Young rich guys aren't even paying attention, so I think it won't have an effect.

Well most of them are uneducated grunts who barely finished high school, but I said it before. Why would anyone, especially if you had a choice, choose the kytihole country to the south instead of Canada to raise young children. It's crazy loco kyit!

If you are male, wealthy, white, and lack education you are 100% on board with all things MAGA and much prefer it to Canada's climate and tax rate.
Not saying they are right to think that. But that's probably where most of them land.
There isn't an NHLer out there (with a family) that relies on public schools, doesn't have gold plated healthcare, or needs to use public transit. The rich live in a different America than the poor.

I like how my aunt puts it
"The United States has the best of... and worst of, everything."
They have the best education system in the world, they also have the worst education system in the world.
They have the best healthcare in the world, they also have the worst healthcare in the world.
They have the best news media in the world, they have the worst news media in the world.
The US has the best of, and worst of EVERYTHING.

The Trump admin is putting up signs that say, "President Donald J. Trump" & "Rebuilding America's Infrastructure" at sites funded by Biden’s 2021 bipartisan infrastructure bill. A bill most republicans were against and Trump opposed.
