They seemed like such upstanding dudes to start with! They like Toyotas, Carpeting and a very specific set of laws, that didn't seem so bad at first!
I think it was the Toyotas that corrupted them.

Yeah, with so much happening in the world right now, people often forget about the brutality and a primitive nature of the Taliban.
The rules around women would astound and shock even the most conservative people in many already conservative countries. The rules are so strict, that it is commonplace and very widespread for men to rape young boys lest they "sin" by touching a woman. It's maddening and saddening.

People are incredibly dumb. But the person who coined the term 'defund the police' was just as dumb, if not more dumb, than the people who don't understand what the term means. It should have been painfully obvious that if you use 'defund the police' to mean 'redirect funds from the police budget to the social services budget and use social workers to do some of the jobs that police currently do poorly', it was going to be misinterpreted and it's meaning twisted.
'Defund the Police' fits well on a protest sign, but it's been a huge set back to actually achieving the goal of improving social services.
