How about 56 pitches through 5 for Gausman?

Why the Jays cut Yarbrough Ill never understand. Even if they didnt want him in the pen. Just keep him on the payroll so you never have to face him.

And to make it worse they cut him for Lovelady.

Agreed. Such a strange decision. What’s Dicky Lovelady up to these days?

If Boone was a good manager he would've used Yarbrough as a starter every game this series. Could've had 2 clean innings to start the game no problem. It's unreal how he dominates them.
I say this with the Jays up 4 and Gausman cruising. But Yarbrough is a hall of famer against the Jays and saved the Yankees bullpen. And the game is still somewhat close.

He's either playing in the Mets farm system or a free agent. He signed with the Mets, then they DFAed him, he elected free agency and after nobody else wanted him signed with them again only to get DFAed again.

I've watched a grand sum of 3 innings this year and caught the inning tonight where Vlad jacked a homer and then the Yankees just.....drop a standard pop out???? These aren't your papas Yankees. Then Buck Martinez says the Yankees are so bad at defense and those types of errors are normal for them. How the hell are the Yankees of all teams in all of pro sports allowing that Busch league defense.

What a great game. Bullpen gets another day of rest as well. Good chance they will be needed tomorrow with Bassit up. That’s gonna be a tough win.

Big win! Had to watch on the Yankees broadcast and they seemed super sad with only the one home run to cheer about. Kept saying they were still in the game if they could get into the Jays bullpen only to have Gausman pitch 8 while the Yankees bullpen gave up insurance runs.

Nothing better in game 1 of a monster series than when your pitcher gives you 8 pitch efficient innings and you do damage to an already sketchy bullpen. Huge advantage for the rest of the series.

Vladdy showed up for this one. But the whole Jays came out ready to hit here. Not sure how much more they want to play Judge in the field. He was throwing like a guy who expects to blow out his elbow if he goes more than 75%.
