Marc Maron’s new special on HBO/Crave is fantastic. His bit about Hitler going on Theo Von’s podcast absolutely crushes.

I gotta check it out, saw the clip you're referring to and loved it. Theo Von is garbage.

What was the name of Calgary’s likely first comedy club? I seem to remember it being on 9th Avenue roughly around 4th Street SW with a standard name like Giggles or Chuckles or something similar in the mid-80’s. Any help here?

It really felt like a throwback to his comedy pre-Freedumb.

That is excellent news, and exactly why I haven't seen his last few specials.

I'll check it out.

I think there is something actually wrong with Jeffries, which is why it's good that he found his way to channel that into comedy.

Surprised Burr is going though. Like... why?

I once saw Jeselnik at Largo in LA and Maron just kinda showed up and they let him go on. He didn't really even material, just went up because he was around and was on for half an hour. I don't remember anything he said but I do remember enjoying it.

The oldest comedy club name I can think of was Yuk Yuk's. No idea if there was another big one before that one.

Absolutely. Bill Burr famously had a show where alcohol was served a little too liberally and the crowd was wild.

I haven't seen anyone get really racist but many shows have had #######s shouting nonsense, and it's often about Trudeau or some other thing conservatives hate. They don't understand how anyone can disagree with them since everyone in their bubble thinks the same way. Hence the "This is Calgary" comment at the Theo Von show.

I’ve seen Ari Schaffir at that club that was in that casino next to the stampede. Just a total dump. I just remember thinking he’s a little too big for that crap hole.

Saw Rogan long before he went ####oo. He had just started the MMA announcing, he lamented the crowd saying “this is my life? Performing for all these MMA meatheads?” They were all hammered and being idiots.

I guess he just eventually embraced it and got rich as hell.

My buddy just told me he's seeing Nate Bargatze in a couple weeks down in Denver. Really interested in hearing how a show like that plays in the Avs' stadium there.

I remember seeing Seinfeld and Craig Ferguson (separately) at the Jube like a decade ago and thinking that was a big room.

I see Big Jay Oakerson is coming to the Blackfoot Inn next weekend. I'm out of town or we'd go see him for sure. We are going to check out Annie Lederman at the end of the month.
