Anyone interested in Isak Rosén? Drafted as a C, but playing as a RW. Doesn’t seem to have a path forward in Buffalo. Would be a buy low candidate and could be a change of scenery candidate. Not ideal size but seems to have grown since his draft year.

I've suggested Rosen a few times before when discussing possible trades with Buffalo. I'm fine with his size (6'0",180lbs), and he has exceptional skill and speed. He was considered to be mostly a playmaker when he was drafted IIRC, but it looks like he's added a nice goal-scoring touch, with 61gp/28g/27a/55pts,10 PIM, +4 in the AHL last season. He has everything he needs to be a top-6 player in the NHL, IMO.

I haven't been following too much this offseason but I had no idea that the Oilers asked both Henrique and Nurse to waive their No Trade Clauses this offseason.
Kind of funny considering Henrique was only signed to a 2 year deal last season. I guess the GM doesn't have much vision.

Media: ‘Rasmus, good game tonight! The Flames are now undefeated in their first 20 and you are plus 50. What are your thoughts on the McDavid situation up the road?’
Sounds about right as far as media attention goes.

Bowman is a poor man's Kenny Holland. Kenny at least has a plan, although a bad one generally. Bowman has no plan.

I don't see it as a get out of jail free card.
He could have a terrible view of the market. He could have already blown it and missed an opportunity to trade the player for more value than he is seeing now and could see in the future.
But if he had an offer on the table that met his goal he'd do it. If he has an offer on the table that he thinks will be better than what he'll see down the road ... he'll do it.
Some seem to suggest otherwise.

A highly ceiling says who? Tomasino has outscored him in the AHL and NHL so far.
The fact is that he’s not worth a 1st. You can get similar players for a lot less.
Veleno was just passed around and bought out. Farabee was just traded as a cap dump. Holtz was included in a trade that only brought back a bottom sixer and a third. Look at trades involving Pelletier, Kaliyev, etc.
If Bourque was a year or two younger with double the production under his belt, he’s worth a first or even a bit more, but he’s not. So Bourque and a 2nd isn’t some huge get compared to a 1st, conditional 3rd that could be a 2nd, and a younger project with potential.
If anything I think Bourque and a 2nd is the worse deal. Personally I would take Reschny, a 3rd/2nd, and a 25 year old with some potential over Holtz and a 2nd.

Hnat Domenichelli also lit up the AHL. We might want to wait to see if Bourque can actually score at the NHL level.

Another counter point is Alex Newhook, who got a late 1st (31 overall) and a 2nd after putting up almost 3x Bourque’s production and winning a cup at 22. Bourque hadn’t even played in the NHL at that time but a year older than Newhook at the time of the trade with 1/3 of the production and he’s worth almost the same? lol

The Sabres were so dumb just drafting gobs of the same type of player. Now they have too many and have to trade some of them off. If the Flames can take advantage of that to bring in Rosen for a reasonable price, I'd be open to it. I don't see obvious fits though for what goes the other way.

I would see if they would take Hunter B for Rosen.

I think I like Hunter B more than Rosen.
They need guys with more size and jam in their pipeline.
So maybe you toss them an offer around Bill Stromgren.
A guy like Coleman would be what they need near-term, but again, the issue is no one will go to Buffalo that has any sort of trade protection.

If they can get him for Stomgren I would do that every single day of the week.

Bleacher report is out with their top candidates. To no one’s surprise, Andersson is top of list. Apart from that, can’t see many players moving during the season on the list. Could see the bruins players potentially being traded as there are still teams like Vancouver looking for centres. And lysell seems to have fallen out of favor. Don’t know why Carey Price isn’t on the list.

Would be hard to see Dallas moving on from Bourque given the contract he was given. Seems like a prove it contract and it’s very team friendly.
If we were to send Andersson to Dallas, hard to see a package where Lybushkin isn’t a piece coming back to make the salary work.

I'm kind of fascinated by Nashville. They went all in last year and it backfired spectacularly, but they are still in win now mode with an aging roster.
Svechkov is 22 now, and no straight path to center in Nashville. They also have defense playing offside because the right side is very weak.

Ooooo yes, completely forget about Nashville, they have plenty of cap space and a few extra draft picks. They likely want to see if the team looks competent before the season starts, but they are in a nice position to load up for a run. They could afford Anderson's full cap hit which could be nic3 if we end up retaining a guy like Coleman for a haul.

They had one of the best goalies in the league, one of the best D-men in the league, and one of the best wingers in the league… I thought their additions had them going to the conference final.

Yeah, it could depend on how they start the season. They’re still technically in win now mode with last year’s signings, so if they break out early, they’ll probably be pretty motivated to shore up their right side and Andersson would be a good fit there.
They’ve apparently got a pretty well regarded prospect base. They wouldn’t likely trade Martin, but maybe Edstrom, who would be a great guy to have mentored by Backlund for a couple years before taking over for him.
