It's possible. He was a massive faller in his draft year, being ranked eighth on McKenzie's list (drawn from scout's opinions) at the beginning of the 2014 season. He was 24th in his final pre-draft rankings.

Hockeywriters figured he'd go mid first round in their March write-up, and they had lots of positive things to say about him, as did other outlets. He also had a pretty good draft year in the Swedish leagues.

Teams definitely had other concerns since he fell almost into the third round despite his skills.

Hmm, I could have swore there was some known reason he fell in the draft? I feel like I us being excited because of some injury or something that had him falling?

There were lots of reasons, an injury before the World Juniors didn't help with showcasing himself, being sent down to the Jr's in Sweden because of defensive play didn't either, and there was always talk about his attitude steaming from off-ice problems which we now know was from his family issues.

Too bad, he had the tools to be a really good player but just didn't get to develop properly.

I hope he gets a new contract somewhere. And I also he is doing better with the mental health aspect.

I liked Kylington, met him a couple times at Flames events. He is a really nice guy, wish him the best.

That is called tampering. Doubt if that happened.

No idea if this happened, but tampering happens all the time around free agency, and everyone knows it.

I still think some people are jealous that the Flames didn’t terminate his contract

If anything Kylington did the Flames a solid by walking away.

He was easily replaced, we werent saddled with a contract for him and it opened spots for other players.

Nobody wants this guy for free and we'd have been tied to a contract for him. One way of looking at it is that we dodged that one.

We signed Jake Bean who is arguably similar if not worse and the same age to the same contract so I’m not sure it opened anything up or avoided having that contract on the books.

To get the deification treatment, you apparently need to play your way down to the 4th line to destroy your trade value, then demand a trade, and go on to success with your new team. That gets you your own legend thread on here.
