Unless you are very wealthy it's just a reprehensible place, period.

Dearest Martha,

The National Guard stand solemn watch at the Krispy Kreme tonight. I cannot tell if they defend the people from the donuts, or the donuts from the people. Powdered sugar hangs in the air like cannon smoke. Jensen took a hot coffee to the face, he may never recover.

Yours in glaze,

If you have to choose sides, it's pretty basic to see the left has far greater wit and a deeper understanding of humour than the mouth breathing troglodytes of the right. If you are going to be ruled by someone, how the #### can you pick the Joe Rogan and Bill Maher's of the world? Subject me, but at least be funny while you do it.

No mention of that in the AP story, About the Shooter section

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said the shooter — armed with a rifle, shotgun and pistol — approached the side of the church and shot through the windows toward the children inside before killing himself in the parking lot.

He said the shooter was in his early 20s, did not have an extensive known criminal history and acted alone. He did not release more details.

A law enforcement official told The Associated Press authorities have identified the shooter as Robin Westman. That official was not authorized to discuss the ongoing investigation and spoke on condition of anonymity.

Former Kentucky state lawmaker Bob Heleringer told The Associated Press he is Westman’s uncle, but had not seen him in a few years.

“He was my nephew, and I wish he had shot me instead of innocent schoolchildren,” Heleringer said during a phone interview. “I barely knew him. They (Robin’s family) never lived in Louisville. They lived in Minnesota.”
I saw it on a few news sites, but no discussion if they were actually going through the process. They claim they identified as a female, and changed his name from Robert to Robin at 17.

So we’ll probably know more later. Walz and Frey mentioned trans’ rights at the press conference.

Waiting for Republicans to start telling us that we shouldn't politicize this. Now is not the time to talk about gun control. Now is the time to demonize transgender people.

Yep. More National Guard to protect us from LGBTQ+ people.

So now Orange is grifting a fundraiser to help him get to heaven?

There is no information at the moment as to whether the shooter was actually going through a medical transition, but a still image from a video they posted online does seem to indicate someone presenting as a female.

Spoiler!

It's not the guns. Montana has the most guns per people and has next to no mass shootings. It's a breakdown in society, and it's probably only going to get worse.

You're right.
It's definitely not the guns.
That's why every other country in the world has the same problem with mass shootings.

Quick google, some dude shot up a bar and killed 4 people in Montana like 3 weeks ago.
But that doesn't even make the news because kids aren't involved.

Guns play a big role, but so does the culture and society. A place like Montana without mass people everywhere will obviously have fewer mass shootings. It's math, plus societal challenges that come with higher populations. The culture has also developed as one where you can solve problems with guns.

Make no mistake, gun play a big role though. Assault rifles are designed for inflicting massive casualties, so we shouldn't be surprised that it's the weapon of choice for mass shooters.

America has always had guns. The large amounts of active shooter killings is a fairly recent phenomenon, which points to societal causes.

So how do you solve it? Do you think you can actually solve the societal causes?
If not, then get rid of the damn guns.

We have a dedicated shooting thread, let's keep this thread to the topics at hand, like Trump raping children.

I'm glad we don't have those things here in Canada.

Those things obviously aren't what makes a society violent, but some societies are just more violent than others. If you throw a massive quantity of guns into the mix, it's a recipe for disaster. There are a variety of historical and current reasons for that, but guns are big piece of that puzzle.

Priests should be packing heat. You can conceal a pretty sizeable arsenal under those frocks.
