He's got Gridin as the Flames 10th best prospect which tells you all you need to know about his evaluation of the Flames prospect pool.

I don't think he was ever at THN.
He was at ESPN prior to The Athletic.

Yeah it's surprising to have them so low. The only element I can think of is if teams above them have more roster players <23.

I don't think Pronman has a bias against the Flames, but I do think he has skewed away from the types of players the Flames have drafted. I think you see that represented in the Canes as well (ranked lower than the Flames, but widely considered to have a good prospect base).

My observation is that Pronman has over-corrected. There was a time where he was really high on smaller skilled players, including dmen. And now he's swung back where he seems to really challenge if those players can make it. It's also a constant debate between him and Wheeler.

Everyone's opinion of each player is going to be different, but the only way you can have the Flames at 17 is if you have a wild bias against the team.

Again, you can like this player more, or that player less, but there are too many quality prospects on the Flames' list for you to not find lots that you like. They are top 10 by most observers, top 5 by a few, and at worst, 11 or 12th. To call them below league average is just an embarrassing take for Pronman.

He is by far the worst of the 'professionals' that do these player evaluations.

Remember I predicted he would have the Flames lower than you thought because he's never been kind to the Flames and he delivered ranking them even lower than I thought he would. Just spitballing but I think he was once a professional scout so you never know if he interviewed with the Flames and didn't get hired and holds it against them. I've been reading his stuff since ESPN and it's hard to remember many times he's been overly positive about anything the Flames have done.

Corey Pronman, like the Edmonton oilers, is no good.

Mavi diary - Day 28

Dear diary. I’m back baby and reunited with the only team I’ve ever won something with. It feels so good. Not oilers, not the city of Edmonton either. I’m with Canada in Calgary. I said my tearful goodbyes to Leon and just like Mr. Gretzky before me, I promised Leon that I wouldn’t cry but I did. There were a few friendly faces but seriously none of them play on my line so I just kept thinking of Leon and the good times we had; I didn’t worry about tomorrow because tonight was all we had.

I asked Leon to come please play for Canada but he said that he had to go prepare for Oktoberfest and practice his smoking.

I saw zach and he told me that acting in his new commercial was easy because it was just like playing hockey. He just stood in front of the thermostat and did what he was told. He said just like hockey as he stands in front of the net and does nothing until I tell him to shoot. He said principe just laid in the bed the entire time looking at his feet. Yuck. If I want principe to lie in my bed and zach to just move the thermostat, I’m calling. Did Lauren remember to turn the driveway heater off before Europe?

I sure hope none of those Newmarket beer league players show up. I don’t want to lose a free trip to Italy.

On my contract, I saw Jeff Jackson (part of team Connor) say that he wasn’t worried. Shouldn’t he be? Even although I don’t really know him, the goalie doesn’t have a contract. And I saw that evander would be coming back for the playoffs! So exciting especially considering how he doesn’t have a contract for next year either.

Well diary, the summer of love is over and although no one can tell, I’m going to sulk. I’ll be back in Edmonton on Friday but I hope no one knows because I’m enjoying thinking about a new team.

Au revoir Leon…until we meet again.

Edmonton City Council approves $400 million expansion of Oiler Fan Brawling Park, as previous Moss Pit facility deemed too small.

The development also displaces remaining area homeless population.

They need more brawling space.

Which is really quite a ridiculous sum, as brawlers only really need is a fenced-off gravelled area with some broken bottles.

Wow, the Oilers once again screwed over Edmonton to get what they wanted. Awful, awful deal:

Oilers only pay 21% of the cost and get all the benefit...again:
Quote:
As a part of the all-or-nothing deal, the province will put up $183 million, the city $138 million and the OEG $87 million.
This sure sounds familiar...
Quote:
City council wasn’t aware of some parts of the deal until late last week, such as allowing trade shows and conferences at the event park that could take business away from the city’s existing conference centres, and soft language on housing requirements.

The three parties signed a memorandum of understanding in June that set next Monday, Sept. 1, as the deadline for the deal, pressure several councillors believed was arbitrary.
Why do cities keep bowing to billionaire sports franchises?
Quote:
“The whole point of this was to build housing,” said the Ward Nakota Isga councillor, who voted against it. “Now there’s no legal requirement to build housing. And I cannot understand how we are okay with that.”

Ward papastew Coun. Michael Janz also voted against it, saying of the priorities that council had looked at in the city’s four-year budget, “an event park downtown was not one of them.”

“This is not our idea,” Janz said. “This is one business provider’s idea.”

The cruelty of the Oilers "Entertainment" Group holds no bounds. They are evil.

And no guarantee of low-cost housing to be built.

Everyone listens to these types of comments through their own lens and preconceived ideas, but what I take from that is the comment "everything's on the table" as meaning everything - including moving on - is still on the table.

That sounded a lot like a guy who is not particularly committed to re-signing, that he is weighing his options.

I haven't been to Edmonton in a while but is their downtown less dead since they added the ICE district? They sure are sinking a lot of money into trying to get folks to venture downtown.

I get the feeling that he really wants out but is torn about leaving the guys in the locker room and feels like he owes the organization a cup or something.

It isn't that, he is just a terrible judge of hockey talent. It's like a mail carrier trying to be a rocket scientist.

I just love the endless media scrutiny towards McDavid. at worst its a distraction, at best it is an appetizer for him leaving.

He says he wants to win in Edmonton, which I am sure is true because he is there for another season regardless. It says nothing about long term ambitions though.

The bottom line is that if he wanted an extension, he would have one already. It's not a difficult contract to figure out and he is completely in the driver's seat.

Obviously there is some internal conflict going on preventing him from signing at this point. How sure or unsure he is that he wants to stay is anyone's guess at this point, but not being committed 100% going into camp has to have them worried. I hope the Edmonton media brings it up often and it drive's him crazy.
