A Nazi? Yeah, sure because nothing screams ‘Hitler 2.0’ like building cars and launching rockets. He’s not exactly running on Hitler’s playbook. If he didn't flash that one hand gesture everyone here obsesses over, then what’s the evidence? Maybe I’m just too out of touch with pop culture conspiracy hour, but this sounds like a real stretch.

Dude. Hitler created the Volkswagen Beetle, the V-2 rocket, and built the most modern airforce possible. Kind of exactly like Hitler particularly on these two things.

Right, because building cars and rockets obviously comes with a side of genocide. Got it.
You were the one who described that he didn’t follow the Hitler playbook by giving examples where he clearly followed the “Hitler playbook”. He also has promoted white supremacist #### on his BS platform and did Hitler salutes in front of the entire world. It’s ok to admit you know nothing about Hitler or Musk.
Gee, I dunno. Hanging out with far right political groups in Germany. Preaching eugenics. Performing the Nazi salute multiple times. Running Grok to push antisemitism and praise Hitler (even though he tried to walk it back after the fact). Constantly pushing white supremacy on X. Yeah, he’s a Nazi. Seb Gorka, who also worked for Trump is also a Nazi, as is Trump’s sec of defense.

I didn't know any of this. I will eat my crow.

I didn't know he was promoting white supremacist ####. My mistake.

He has a very specific talent in that he can take in a lot of information and parse it down to first principles to tease out potential pathways others don't see, because they are stuck in the weeds up the chain. This can and has been effective for him to solve problems, but it's also a massive blind spot that has led to no shortage of avoidable mistakes, and stupid blanket philosophies like "the best part is no part", which is why low slung Model 3s with awkward door portals don't have grab handles, and emergency door releases that leave people to die horrible fiery deaths.
It's also why he removed all sensors for FSD except vision, because people drive with vision only(not true) so his cars should, too. Unfortunately it means they are now afraid of shadows, and occasionally plow into emergency vehicles as if they didn't exist.
He's demanded Starship be built so light that it shakes itself to pieces, and then explodes.
I also don't believe he is a very good business person. He's basically a fake nerdy Trump. A bully who has stolen and steamrolled himself to where he is today. You can tell this is true because he basically has no allies in the business world, and anyone who has worked with him ####ing hates his guts. He's an #######.
Plus, ya, the Nazi ####.
He is also audacious. Building out a network of charging stations worldwide to support the EV, launching 1000s of satellites for Starlink, reusable rockets at scale, starting a global ePayment system. Not your typical startups. I don’t know if these were all his ideas and starting with mega-bucks sure helps, but tell me anyone on CP dreams that big let alone acts that big.

And he’s a total dick.
I work with a lot of startups. I can tell you the percentage that have ideas toward and ambitions on changing the entire industry they work in, if not the entire world, is hilariously high.
His startups quite literally are your typical startups. The only real difference between the winners and the losers is $$$. Not even how good or workable the idea is. Just funding.

Do they have ideas that require spending 100s of million dollars on physical stuff in order to be viable?

It's fascinating how many myths about him are just casually taken as reality. He didn't really found PayPal. He first used Daddy's S.A. money to found zip2, which was an online directory, with what some believe was stolen code, and a hacked together early internet company that he quickly sold for millions. Well, the company booted him and gave him money to go away, because he was such a ###### to work with.
He took that money to found X.com, which he wanted to make a bank, but as an illegal immigrant couldn't really make happen without outing himself. Fortunately for him, a real Payment company was already much further along, called Coffinity, run by Peter Thiel and others. He talked his way in with his money, and was given the CEO position of the renamed company, PayPal. We can only guess why. Then he was booted because no one could stand to work with him, but kept his shares which he eventually used to fund his way into Tesla.
There he bullied his way into being given the title of founder, despite the company being well on its way to having the Roadster production ready. All they really needed at the time was his money. He eventually ousted the real founders because his ego couldn't handle them.
The charging network was really a requirement for success, and they got governments to pay them for a lot of it.
Starlink was an idea, really a full fledged plan brought to him to perhaps partner with SpaceX to launch. Musk strung the guy along, basically took all his plans and work, and told him to #### off.
SpaceX is really the only one I can give him much credit for, but even then he would not have succeeded without a lot of patient government support.
Audacious, I'll give you. But he's such an impossible to respect cockwomble when you see the reality of how he got to where he is.
