Just a heads up to anyone on the fence about Creed tonight, they just released dozens of tickets in the two sections beside the stage, lower tier for $25 all in.

That's actually tempting, if I wasn't kind of tired today and not really feeling like battling crowds that would be cool for that price! They should do that more often.

Deftones Monday night. Almost completely sold out. Had no idea they were that popular. Haven’t seen them since they played Mac Hall like 20 years ago. And the new album dropped today.

Then Korn in a month. I’m 16 all over again.

Does anyone know when the parking lot opens for 7PM shows at the dome? I injured myself this weekend and can barely walk, need to get there early to park close to the building. Thanks!

It's open all day. No more ticket booths and you just pay on the app.

The new album is actually pretty good and I'm a person that likes, not loves Deftones. I'm more excited about Korn and Gojira.

They've had a big surge the last 10 years as all the people who grew up avoiding Deftones cause they were too "artsy" and not as metal as Limp Bizkit and Korn suddenly started listening to Deftones and realizing how much better they are than the other Nu Metal bands.

That was really good. Another really good crowd too. Chino can still scream and sing with the best of them.

I don't know man. Korn are the pioneers that created the genre. I don't think anything the Deftones have done tops Korn's first three albums.

Korn are more influential (although every Nu Metal band really owes everything to Faith No More), but no shot whatsoever are they better. As to the show itself, was very good and the band sounded very tight. Side note, but my buddy went to Creed last week and he said that, relatively speaking, Creed was a total sausage fest compared to Deftones. And even though I didn't go to Creed, I truly cannot remember a show from a band in the metal sphere that had more ladies at it, might have been more women than men last night.

Well you can go further back because Anthony Kiedis claimed that Faith No More ripped off their style. Korn brought the heavy metal to Nu Metal and it's a matter of opinion I guess to which band is better as as to me Chino is kind of the Eddie Vedder of Nu Metal (whine substituted for yodeling) which can grind after a while.

Anthony Kiedis is awful lol, nobody should care what he thinks. I loved Korn a lot when I was younger, was my first ever concert in fact, but yeah I basically described myself when talking about ignoring Deftones when younger cause Korn and Limp Bizkit were "way more metal". Never owned a Deftones record until I was in my mid 20s, yet I bought Chocolate Starfish and Untouchables on day 1, and those records are both kind of cheeks (especially Chocolate Starfish). Kids are stupid lol, glad I matured into better music.

Deftones was great last night-Leaned more towards the older stuff, they were super tight and Chino's voice was awesome- That version of Diamond Eyes was worth the price of admission alone for me!

I don’t even think nu metal is a real genre. Half the bands that are called nu metal have very little in common other than the fact that they were popular at the same time. Very broadly it just means heavy down tuned guitars. Which is hardly genre defining.

Bands like Korn, Deftones, slipknot, SOAD etc all stand on their own merits.

I think you can say that about a lot of metal genres. As there with the original four Seattle grunge bands, there was a spawn of bands emulating the style of Korn's self-titled debut. Even established bands like Machine Head, Slayer, Sepultura, In Flames, etc took a stab at Nu Metal so I do believe the genre was real and had a big influence leading to some of the most commercially successful metal acts ever like Linkin Park and of course Deftones, Slipknot, SOAD, Korn, Limp Bizkit (I have to list them because of their commercial success).

I've lost track of how many times I've seen Deftones, might be 13 or 14. I traveled to see them in '96 touring the first album, multiple times during Around the Fur so it was a bit strange to see a sold out Saddledome there to see them and loud as hell. Not an old crowd either, I'd say 60% of the room were under 30.

I still love the band and buy every release but to tell the truth the last 4 albums have been rough, ever since Stephen switched to 7 and then 8 string guitars the riffs have become really boring. My biggest worry was how those low register notes and chords would come across in such a big room, not as bad as I thoguht but there were more than a few sections in newer songs that were unintelligible. Chino has had times recently where he's sounded quite bad on stage but he's close to the top of his game now, no gripes there except for his vocal melodies on the recent albums, he has one approach and pattern and can't seem to break away from it.

New album is great IMO. My 19 year old son and his girlfriend went. He and his friends listen to a lot of nu metal. Seems to be making a bit of a comeback as a lot of the most listened to metal bands on Spotify are nu metal.

That was amazing!

I just wish NIN releases the Stage B remixes.
