Not sure if there are many MMORPG players on the forum - Oldschool Runescape broke its record for concurrent players earlier this month (August 3, 2025) with ~240k online, 12 years after its initial release, with nothing major happening in the game for the record to happen. It seems it was a culmination of an already active/dedicated player base (typically around ~150k) and a big boom of WoW streamers and their viewers coming over to the game and singing its praises.
This video sums it up pretty well:
Anyways, I've been playing OSRS since 2014 and definitely support its recent success. No predatory microtransactions and devs that are fully immersed with the community. Definitely worth playing if you're into grindy MMO's. If anyone wants to add me give me a shout, I'm well on my way to maxing my Ironman
Loved the article on why Silksong took so long to complete. These guys are living the dream:

“We’ve been having fun,” Gibson said. “This whole thing is just a vehicle for our creativity anyway. It’s nice to make fun things.”

When the studio announced Silksong in February 2019, Hollow Knight had sold 2.8 million copies. The game has sold another 12 million copies since then, allowing Team Cherry to keep working on the sequel indefinitely without having to worry about running out of funds.

so excited for this. Apparently both ego and 3rd person perspective are possible (they've experimented with this in the Village DLC). There's also been longer gameplay videos from Gamescom but I'll keep myself unspoilered for now. Just excited for this game, that's all.

I haven't played Hollow Knight, hoping to some day because it looks incredible though. That being said, I really hope Silksong lives up to the hype. It feels like it's gonna be really hard to do that after all these years though.

I never played it either so figured might as well do it before Silksong comes out. A bit frustrating so far in that it's hard to know where to go next.. Obviously need to upgrade my abilities (wall jump, double jump) but hard to know which area to go to to find the ability I need next.

But certainty is an absurd one.
I’ve jumped back into Ghost of Tsushima, and I'd forgotten how much fun it is.
The first time around it ate up just under 90 hours, which was a little sobering to realize. I obviously don’t need another platinum trophy, so maybe I can trim that down to, I don't know, 40-50 hours.
(Who am I kidding. My particular strain of videogame OCD will still have me chasing down every side quest, secret, outfit, hat, weapon, colour scheme, etc, etc.)
Let's also not discount the fact that the Tsushima platinum is a very fun platinum to get. You've got a little over a month until Yotei, so you'll have to fill the time anyways.
Super excited for Kingmakers! Am in Montreal now but have a friend in Calgary that's going to get a wicked computer soon, and maybe we'll play some co-op on it. Looks really funny
