So many votes for Washington surprises me. Must be all the Oiler fans that are mad at Ovechkin for beating Gretzky's goal record.

Gotta go with the ducks. I've hated them much longer than I've hated the knights.

Oh it's Vegas. C'mon... they're the heels of the NHL.

Montreal for me. Beat the Flames in the 86 final with a mid team riding a hot rookie goaltender. Montreal media loser cost Iginla a deserved Hart Trophy. Extremely arrogant fans second only to Canucks fans for rioting.

IMO it's more jealousy how they have outmaneuvered the rest of the league as they barely have a history with the Flames to build the required hatred. I find them annoying but also am happy they are good at the same time the Oilers are to help keep the cup out of Edmonton. When they decline in the back half of the decade, nobody will care about them. Hate for teams like the Oilers, Canucks, Leafs, Habs, etc is eternal.

Because they aren't very hateable. Their record is meh, they aren't a rival, they aren't full of a-holes.
They beat Calgary in a finals, but then Calgary beat them. In their own house.

And still the only visiting team to win the Stanley Cup in Montreal.
Just to show how old I am, I was at the game in 1986 when the Habs beat the Flames at the Dome to win the Cup. When it was clear that the Flames just didn't have the horses to overcome the 3-1 series deficit, the "Thank you Flames" chant just went on and on and was unforgettable. Especially after overcoming an 11 game losing streak in the regular season and beating the heavily-favoured Oilers. It would be nice to see something similar happen again this season.
