While I get your point, there is a pretty big difference. There is only one Canadian team in MLB and NBA, but there are 7 Cdn teams in the NHL. So pumping them like Canada's team is pretty insulting.

(doesn't bother me as much as it does some, as I find it easy to avoid - unlike the onslaught of EDM fawning that we are subjected to here)

Has to be the Leafs for me. Vegas will eventually suck and be like the California teams where you don't like them depending on where they are in the success cycle but after the Oilers and Canucks there's not another team I cheer to fail like the Leafs. They can never win a cup in my lifetime.

Vegas. They're just such a despicable team in terms of how they approach the game. I get that they're not breaking the rules, but they are not a sportsmanlike team IMO.

Is this just because of the Canadian stanley cup drought? Like Edmonton winning the cup at any point would suck, but it would be insufferable if they broke the streak.

I could be ok with any other Canadian team winning the cup over Edmonton just so I’ll never have to hear “Edmonton brought the cup home after all these years”. F*** em.

Vegas is the new hate. But I'm old and my hate cannot leave the Ducks. Only Canadian teams I hate are Edmonton (any iteration, always and forever), and Sedin era Canucks. Couldn't care either way about the other Canadian teams.

But the Ducks, I'll hate em forever. That 0 for 28 run or whatever in the Honda center cemented my hate for them.

I get the Toronto hate, what with all the media fawning. However, let me argue that Montreal is equally deserving of such hate.

Growing up, most Calgarians were either Habs or Leafs Fans (with a few Canuck weirdos thrown in). Leafs were terrible and the Habs were good, so it was all Hab talk, all of the time. Habs fans were as entitled as Oiler fans in their belief that Montreal was destined for playoff glory, no matter how mediocre their team. Things have settled down a little bit, but even now, I sense they think the are "building something special" and we will likely never hear the end of it (and to be clear, they are building a decent team).

Add in the Flames loss in the cup final, the embarrassing number of fans in the dome when Montreal shows up and that twerp coaching their team, and I present to you a team worthy of the (3rd) most disliked team on CP.

I am baffled that people hate the leafs more than the Canadiens.
The Canadiens took 2 ish cups from us, and their dumb ass racist sports writers robbed Jarome Iginla of a Hart he deserved in favor of a loser goalie.

Yeah the leafs have annoying fans but habs fans are more obtuse because they act with this holier than thou, know it all hockey perspective and feel unimpeachable because they watch hockey at the mecca that is the Bell Center.

All valid points. The True North thing especially. Extremely cringe to chant the name of your ownership group.

Plus the “whiteout” is just a lame dupe of the C of Red. Is anything about that franchise original or interesting?

If you are a Jays fan it’s hard to recognize how sickening the coverage is.
