Wow, they got him very cheap. Good pickup for them IMO.

Extremely consistent guy except for his last year in Buffalo. I guess his health must be an issue because he has only got past 56 games twice.

Is he still mostly a powerplay specialist? Have not kept up with his play the last couple years.

He had an uncharacteristically good season defensively - in fact his GA/60 was the lowest of any forward in the NHL who played 500+ 5 on 5 minutes. However I think it's a safe bet to assume at this point it' was more a reflection of the team and system he played on. It may show that he has atleast made that the effort and shown some progression in his defensive game.

Dunno, I just see he's good for 20 goals and 45 points most years. But only plays 50 some games.

Some of the advanced stats say he was very good at ES.
He also wasn't on the 1st PP and had 8 PP points.
This is a great pick up as his ice time slipped the last 3 years. Pretty good goal scorer and an upgrade on Drouin.

I think he could get 30 with the Avs. They need a shooter like him on the PP.

I sure hope he's not. That would just be embarrassing.

Even with a raised cap, who could even afford McDavid's cap hit (now and in the future).
The Flames for sure. Especially if they take Huberdeau (who'd do pretty well feeding Draisaitl frankly).

Pittsburgh has set themselves up really well with all of their expiring deals. i think there are a few teams that could do it, but the market is limited and it might not be wise to even if you could. I don't expect him to drop off drastically, but still, most of his next contract will be post-peak years.

I guess a Chicago or SJ could but it would hurt them badly when their big draft picks need RFA deals.
I could see Yzerman deciding to take a shot. Or LA.

What about NYR? With Panarin coming off the books and a couple bigger contracts (trouba) gone, they may have some space

McDavid, not so much.
I actually think Mca is a better all around player though.

The problem with a McDavid trade is the teams that are set up the best to take his cap and have the asset to acquire him have no chance of signing him.
McDavid would make almost any team a contender, but he is only going to look at the select few teams that are at the top and have no assets or cap.

I have my doubts mcdavid would accept a trade mid season. Could see him pulling a marner and refuse to waive durring last season. That said the rumours are he is going to sign a short term deal with oilers.

By all accounts the asking price for Rossi was ridiculous.

You just nailed the Huberdeau problem.
Huberdeau would do well with Draisaitl.
Draisaitl doesn't do any better with Huberdeau though.
But the price for McDavid and for dumping Huberdeau would be impossible to calculate.
