Trump was elected because of the promise to reduce the national debt, and attempt to reduce government spending by addressing corruption and bureaucracy. Then you combine that with the promise to reduce crime, have a harder stance on drugs, and reduce the number of illegal immigrants by securing the borders. Moreover, he was promising to stay out of wars overseas, and concentrate on the issues inside the states. That's what people that support trump support.
Unfortunately, like any politician, there's no accountability when he doesn't deliver on his promises. Much like Carney's elbows up, and other election promises.
He was still a better choice than Biden/Harris.
Anyway, here's not the place to discuss politics, and I'll gladly do it over a couple of beers, but here let's stick to hockey.

Eerily similar to your defences of Putin and Netanyahu.
Y’all do have a type, I guess.
What’s a few hundred thousand dead or missing when platitudes and promises to cut red tape with do just nicely.
Tip for next time: if this isn’t the place to discuss politics, put that at the start of the post and then delete the rest. Works like a charm and saves us the embarrassment.

Didn’t think this thread could get any worse than discussing Kadri for 5 pages. CP posters prove me wrong again.
Sec come out of retirement. I don’t care if the rumour is a blatant lie. We need to be saved

Chicago wasn't "up and coming". They were a contender right then and there. They lost inthe semis the year before.
If you think Anaheim is in the finals next year, that's pretty wild.
And in any event, that is an example from 2008.

We really need Sec back, this is embarrassing. I'm not surprised seeing some of the names engaging in this discussion either.
This is a hockey thread. Go talk politics in the off topic. Bring back Sec!

Bingo and Photon, there's something wrong with the server. When I click the Trade & Spec thread it jumps to the "American Politics 4.0 - Orangeyou Glad He’s Back?" thread. Weird.

I just want to echo what dissentowner is saying. As an extremely visible minority my life has changed significantly since 2016 even right here in Calgary. Trump has empowered the racists. My work life, my personal, store etc life all had a paradigm shift.
It really gave power to the racists, especially here in Alberta where they believe what they do.

Sure, acknowledging that there are 2 sides to every coin is the embarassing part. Life must be so easy when everything is so black and white.
Bullying a poster for his avatar, or political views is a-ok. Well I won't stand for it regardless if he's a Democrat, a Republican, a Liberal or a Conservative. I draw the line at Oiler fans.
Do I like Trump? No, but everyone should be treated with respect.
If you want, as luck would have it, I'm back in CGY to visit family for a couple of weeks so feel free to send me a DM and we can all go for a couple of beers and talk hockey and whatever, there you can explain to me how unreasonable I'm being, and what a terrible person I am.

Maybe we need to pivot away from this and bring it back to a hockey discussion.

I blame the NHL for a severe lack of player movement this year. Further more I blame Brad Treliving for the death of player movement when I made the first ...."big" sign and trade with the Tkachuk trade.
The NHL is mega boring now. Of course I'll pivot and change my.mind come pre season and when we get hockey back, but until then.....LAME.

Naw, have better people to lift up than trying to convince you.
Just like this thread you wear it and that is your choice to make.
Trump lies, empowers racism and marginalizes groups that have little or no voice. There is zero pass on doing that.
Finally gaslighting by saying what a terrible person you are…again that is on you. If you truly believe you are terrible then that fix lies within you.
Enjoy the beer.

So, about those Flames. Do we think it is more likely Andersson is traded before the season or at the deadline?

It is really hard to say. I think we should all expect Andersson at camp given the timeline but if the right deal comes along I am sure Conroy will do what's best for the club. If I had to bet on it though I would probably put my money on him starting the season in Calgary.
