we're supposed to work to live, not live to work.
If work is stealing your will to live, then take care of yourself.
Have you considered getting a medical stress leave so you could perhaps get some short term insurance/benefits coverage? I know several people who took a few months off to reset themselves while still getting some $$$.

So I went to a local Canada Post (at a Shoppers) to get some registered mail. Since that time I've had more than 2 dozen emails: "Delivery Notification for Item / Avis de livraison pour l'article :TRACKING 39824#######"
And yes, the notification is to say the item has been "delivered" (I went to pick it up). HOW the EFF do I stop these frickin' emails coming? There's no option on the email or on any of the links.

I did this last September. It all works out, pal. Just get out of there and find something better.

I’ll personally recommend the Valentine1 Gen.2. It’s very well priced and very effective, and pairs with an app for additional customization, GPS lockouts, etc. It’s also undetectable by RCMP’s RDDs in places like Manitoba (which is where I am visiting at the moment).
If you drive in Edmonton, you may want a Uniden R8 or R4 as those will be able to detect some of the weird tech they use for their photo radar — where they’re still allowed to use it.
Just know that once you’re in the city, manned speed traps often use LIDAR, not radar, and radar detectors are typically “ticket notifiers” for LIDAR.

If you told your doctor what you’re saying here, they’d write you a note for stress leave which you send right to your benefit provider and you don’t ever have to share a single detail with your work. Think about that option, but absolutely take care of yourself first. Your job isn’t worth your life, please act accordingly quickly.

Ya, take the break at least and maintain your health benefits, then use them.

Early retirement changed/saved my life.
Adjustment disorder is a mental health condition where a person experiences emotional or behavioral symptoms in response to an identifiable stressor. These symptoms are more intense than expected for the situation and can significantly impact daily life, including work, school, and social interactions. It's often a short-term condition, typically beginning within three months of the stressful event and resolving within six months. AI Overview

IIRC, you basically can't. Next time, for one offs, don't register and track manually.

Constructive dismissal is a thing. Keep that in mind.

As someone who has been through a similar dispute with his employer (the one last September), I would very carefully weigh the prolonged stress of a legal dispute with just GTFO.

I don't need some minimal package. Might do it today. I requested next week off to go to job interviews, he has not approved it yet but will be gone after today. I've been advised to not do the stress leave thing, even though it is real.

Have you considered just taking a dump on his desk while he's away? That might make you feel better.

Collisions are typically due to unforeseen object or incidents on the road in front of drivers. So it’s largely about breaking distance.
Breaking distance on a dry road
80 km/h ->>> 64 m
100 km/h ->>>>> 100 m
120 km/h ->>>>>>>> 144 m
140 km/h ->>>>>>>>>>>>> 196 m
Doesn’t matter how good a driver you think you are or how well the road is designed - if something unexpected happens on the road 100 m in front of you, you’re far less likely to safely avoid it doing 120 than 90. Because physics.
Improved car safety means you’re more likely to survive a rollover than 30 years ago. But having to be pried out of a wreck and suffering from serious injury for years is still not a great outcome. Auto collisions remain a major cause of serious injury and fatality in this city.
Quote:
Last year also saw a total of 85 traffic investigations related to serious-injury or fatal collisions, tying the year 2007 for the highest annual count on record, according to police…
In 2024, police also said that 35 per cent of the year's fatal collisions were related to unsafe or excessive speed.

And leave a note with some Schwartzenegger-esque one liner - “you’ve been dumped” or “haha, now who is the party pooper?!”

A c*** boss was the reason I left too. If you're already getting job interviews, GTFO. Just walk away.

I've mentioned this before, but I did this with my last employer.
I use the term 'last' because they were the last place I ever have or will ever work. After that I'm on my own.
Its there, but Constructive Dismissal is a bitch to prove and the person levelling those allegations almost always loses. I won. But it wasn't fun. There has to be a really good reason to do it going from 'money' but mine was a little more visceral.

Yeah, I got an okay settlement from mine, but it wasn't worth the time or emotion. That said, I was also driven by my hatred and I think I imposed enough pain and stress on their side to make it worth my while.
