decent performance, but losing because of yet another goalkeeping error sucks. Arsenal were very beatable today, they didn't look impressive at all.

United were the better team, but way better goaltending for Arsenal than united.

United should be prioritizing Donnarumma

nah, they're only just fixing their wage structure. Donnarumma is overrated and not worth the wages he'll want.

Honestly, just put Tom Heaton in. Still easily the best goalkeeper they have.

I'll agree with decent. Arsenal were unconvincing.

That being said, is that it at the end for United? Down by 1 and you play Maguire as a CF and hoof it? Thats all thats in the tank?

I've never even heard of United's gk today.

throwing on Maguire if you need a goal is never a bad call. And it's not like United's the first team to do something like that, I remember Bayern regularly throwing on Daniel van Buyten as a "striker" when they needed a goal.

I understand desperation, but it just seems odd to me, you go out and get Amorim, then you get him his players for his system and then...he's Big Sam Allardyce playing hoof and hope while draining pints of wine on the sidelines.

I think Manchester United will be fine, they had a weak backup goalkeeper playing today and Sesko will be ready to start soon enough.

What I can't believe is that Casemiro started. He's been too old and slow for this level of football for at least two years now, maybe more.

funny thing about that is that Casemiro actually played well today. Midfield fell apart when when he was subbed for Ugarte (who had a stinker).

Either way, United played fairly well. I dont think they put in a shift like that all last season, so...they've got that going for them, which is nice. I guess.

I wonder what kind of blackmail material Luke Shaw has on Amorim though...

Donnarumma is still only 26, has won Euro, Champions League, etc and is a top 5 goalie in the world.

If he's making $200-$250k per week and is still cheaper than guys like Fernandes then it's fine for their wage structure.

Except 1 huge problem.

Paris want to get rid of him because he's not good at playing the ball. United got Onana initially because of his ball-playing skills.

While Donnarumma is an excellent goalkeeper...is he THE goalkeeper they want?

and yet, the reigning CL winner is happy to push him out of the club and replace him with Lucas Chevalier. Why is that?

I think Donnarumma is vastly overrated. And when you look at Bayindirs mistake, that's exactly where Donnarumma struggles too. He's a fantastic shot stopper, but that's about it. Struggles to claim a cross, questionable with his feet, a brainfart here and there. Which is why I find it funny that Man City are apparently interested, he's the exact opposite of what Pep is usually looking for in a goalkeeper. If I'm United, I go for Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp.

In other news, Jadon Sancho has rejected the AS Roma offer. I didn't think I could ever loathe a footballer that much, but here we are.

Let me guess...declined mandatory pay cut?

I do think there is more to the story than just that.

He turned down initial contract renewals during the season, and then around the champions league which caused tensions.

PSG seems to have this new focus on signing French nationals as a priority which added to it.

And yeah they want a goalie who can play better from the back but I honestly think the earlier stuff where he turned down the contract was the real issue.

In terms of his fit...I just see more of a fit with United than City IMO.
