It also means he may be a little less likely to get claimed off waivers if a team doesn't want to pay him an NHL salary in the AHL.

And if it's under a certain threshold his contract wouldn't count against the cap.

Think $1.3M roughly.

Kirkland stays healthy last year and the Flames make the playoffs. Fourth line difference maker, yes please. Welcome back!

He might be right, we may well have made the playoffs simply do to a better shoot out record.

No complaints here. It's worth it just to be able to put him in shootouts.

Well I checked his receipt and he also comes with a very generous return policy.

He was a great story last year, was solid depth, and everyone on the team seemed to love him. Can't complain. I think he was a bit lucky during that time, but hey, sometimes luck follows you around anyway.

Having him and Hunt back gives the organization some depth at the NHL and AHL level. You still need guys to help develop prospects the right way, and both of these players help to do exactly that, plus they play well when called-up. We may joke about it right now, but Rooney likely not returning leaves a pretty important hole to fill - legitimate 4th line center + some PK time.

Hoping that Kirkland gets a bit of Derek Ryan traction - late to the party, but became an everyday NHL'er that helped move the needle.

Good to see it back in circulation. I hope this also means we'll be seeing an announcement of Parekh switching to 19 soon.

As long as he doesn't have an asterisk following his number, he should be happy.
