That's 4 really good starts in a row for Scherzer, especially these last three outings. If he keeps putting these up, he could be the guy who gets the ball for a Game 1.

Yeah. There's also the advantage that he's Max Scherzer, he's been there before, etc. If it's a tie for game 1 starter I think you go with the 2x WS winner, 3x Cy Young winning future hall of famer.

AL and especially the East is definitley weaker this year. Hopefully they can make a run and that Red Sox series the last week isn't meaningful because they're too far ahead.

A combined split with the cubs/dodgers means they're still on pace for 91 wins if they play 500 ball the rest of the way. I'm still not 100% sure that 91 wins the AL East, but the closer we get to the end the more likely that is. The Red Sox need to win 26 out of 40 to get to 92 wins - that's .650 baseball the rest of the way (105 win pace).

Still blows my mind that the Rangers somehow won the World Series 2 years ago. They really are up there with the Royals as the worst team to ever win the world series.

And as soon as I write that Bassitt ####s the bed and gives up a meatball to Higashioka.
Bassitt should not find his way into the playoff roster.

Bassitt doesn’t have a margin for error as a starter. More than for most pitchers, the difference between crushing and being crushed is a matter of millimeters.
He’s on the wrong side of that margin right now.

Bassist not having a good time. Lucky it’s not 5-0 thanks to the Lukes plays.

Bieber so far is having a great start for the Bisons. The less that we see of Bassitt for a while is probably not a bad thing.

I wish anybody but Bassitt was pitching this game. Probably would be a good pitchers duel. But when you give up 3 runs to the bottom of the lineup of the worst offensive team in baseball you're going to have a bad time. Degrom is looking sharp. Only chance is to keep driving up the pitch count and hope for the best.

Nice that Bassitt settled down and got through 5 without anymore runs.
deGrom has been dominant. Only given up an infield hit and a double that was almost caught. Hopefully only has one more inning.

Tellez struck out twice that at bat and still walked.

FFS. Semien has been one of the worst hitters in the league this year. That sucks.

And Texas gets the 2 runs back. Screwed over a bit by the ump with a 2 out walk that should have been a 3-2 count.
